Community and Friendship

I was very successful during Charger Trails.  For example, during the Hog Call I would be a leader and help people go where they needed to be and when I needed help I would be corporative and listen to my peers.  Also when I went to the Marble challenge I would share my ideas and when thy didn’t work I would be flexible and use my friends ideas.  Lastly, at the maze we couldn’t talk so I had to be okay with being wrong because I had to try different ways so the my team could be successful.

Community and Friendship

At Charger Trails, I think the Gulledge Ghouls did a great job working together during the activities. One thing I think we need to work on is listening to other people’s ideas instead of having “to many cooks in the kitchen.”  The first activity was Marble Luge. In this challenge I think we worked together, but we didn’t listen to each others ideas. The idea that completed the goal was mentioned in the beginning , but it wasn’t listened to. The next activity was Hog Call. This is where Mr. Rokuskie would put a card on our backs that matched with the card on  someone else’s back. We were not allowed to talk. This activity was not to hard because others could see your card and point you in the direction of your partner. I think in this challenge we didn’t have to many leaders and we worked together nicely.  Then we went to the maze. The maze was difficult because there was only one way to go through the maze and we could not talk to each other. I think there were many leaders pointing in different directions.

Community and Friendship

I really enjoyed the charger trails. I feel like it was a nice way to work on cooperating with a group of people. It was a similar experience to the activities we participated in at Camp Hanes. There were three activities that we went through. I personally feel like I really saw what the teachers were talking about. That some people have strengths in certain areas whereas others may have strengths in other activities. I feel like as a friend I was successful because I learned more about my friends. As a teammate I was successful because I was helping my team towards our goal of completing the puzzle. I feel like this showed especially in The maze and the hog call. We had some good laughs but we were working together to our goal as well. Overall I think it was a really fun experience.

As a teammate I came up with ideas to help and different solutions. When our group was doing the marble luge we all listened to each other’s ideas and at the end we figured it out. We were the first group to finish the maze. In that activity you had to pay a lot of attention and trust your friends and teammates. I thought that the hog call was the easiest but you had to choose a leader and in that you have to step down and let the leader handle things.

-It was sometimes hard not to control something our check and make sure everything is right but you have to believe and trust to know that your team is right. My favorite activity was the maze because you had to trust your instinct and figure the maze out with your friends. When someone messed up we did not bring them down our yell at them we just said nice try. You have to trust people who you don’t hang out with because you don’t know if the person that you trust more is correct. You also have to listen to boys and girls even if you don’t like the person or believe that they are right.

Community and Friendship

As a team member today, I think I was more of a follower than a leader. I had some ideas, but I was mainly listening to others plans and trying them. When we were doing The Marble Challenge, I was only a follower, but still a good friend and team leader. As a whole group, we could only come up with one plan, and it was a good one, but it didn’t work. I think it didn’t work because we had the right plan, we just weren’t executing it right. Our plan was to hold the tubes up at an angle and let the marble go through, and once you were sure that the marble had passed through the tube you were holding, you would run up to the front of the line with your tube and hold it there. Our plan was to keep repeating these actions until the marble got inside the cup, but somehow in between it always fell out. We still kept up with this plan even though at the end it still didn’t work and we were out of time. I feel like in this activity, Runyon was the biggest leader.

In our next activity, Hog Call, I think we found it pretty easy. I think I was actually a leader in this one, but still a follower at the same time. The way the game was played was that you had a word taped to your back and once everybody had a word, they had to go around and find a good pair for what was on their back. But, you couldn’t talk and you couldn’t look at the word on your back. So the plan that we came up with as a group was to have people stand in a row, and a few people would start pairing them by their word, and then the people who were already paired, would pair the people that had paired them. This ended up working very well, and we played two rounds successfully.

Our last activity was The Maze. This was very similar to a game we played at Camp Hanes, but it was a little more difficult. There was a mat with 16 squares and we had to find the pattern, and the pattern used up all 16 squares. This was pretty much a guessing game, but it also trained your memory to remember the path. We all helped each other, and Runyon got a piece of paper and wrote out the path, which helped some people, but not all. Overall, I think these three activities helped us work together, and it bonded us well.

Community and Friendship

Hog Call:

What I did at this challenge was help direct the people to there appropriate match and helped them get paired up. I sort of did what a lot of people in my advisory did and did some traffic control signals to guide them and tapped on their chairs to get their attention. I felt like more of a team member on that one.

Marble Luge:

This one I really focused on getting to talk more. The challenge was not as important to me. I was more worried about not connecting with my advisory. Then near the end of the challenge I focused on getting the marble in the cup, but I was a friend on this challenge.

Maze:

This challenge was what I thought was the toughest challenge. We weren’t all getting out our ideas and it was a bit of a struggle. Near the end of the challenge we found a great strategy and it was so effective we got to do two mazes. On this challenge I was a team member. Like most people when I finished the maze I tried to guide the people who where still trying to get across. I was a team member on this one.

Community and Friendship

In the Charger Trails activities I thought the Gulledge Ghouls advisory worked together as a team. The Marble challenge was the first activity we did and also the hardest. I think we had to warm up and remember how to work as a team. We were successful with the Hog call and Maze. We communicated to each other even though for both activities we could not talk. I found other ways to communicate by pointing, facial expressions, and other gestures. Every one at one point was a leader directing people where to go and what to do. At some points I thought there were to many leaders but as soon as people realized they backed down. We listened to others ideas and took advise from our teachers on how to improve the success of the activity. This was a fun experience on using team work and building bonds and friendships with our community.

Community and Friendship

I was successful as a friend and a team member because I gave ideas which led towards the success of challenges. Also when someone said something I didn’t agree with I let them try because that is what I would want if I were them.  I listened to everyone’s ideas and tried to think which ones would work then as a team we decided.

For example when we did the Marble Luge everybody had an idea and some other team members and I were able to combine some of the ideas to make it work for everybody. When we were doing Hog Call a lot of people wanted to be the person that would move people around and find pairs. I was one of them that wanted to but I decided that I had done enough and should let another team member have a turn. During the maze I told someone the wrong way to step and made my team have to start over. After that I never made that mistake again. If I wasn’t sure where they should go I didn’t try to tell them. I would let someone who knew tell them.

Community & Friendship

Today, we did Charger Trails. We first did the Marble Luge with Ms. Stewart, then Hog Call with Ms. Taylor, and lastly Maze with Ms. Smith. The Marble Luge was where we must transport a marble from a piece of masking tape into an upright cub using only tubes and ourselves. We first tried piping the marble, and then we tried using two tubes to contain and pass the marble, and succeeded. Next, we did the Hog Call. We had everyone stand with their back facing the leader, and managed to match everyone in 45 seconds, even with the delay of multiple people trying to suddenly become the leader. Then we did the next Hog Call challenge, and managed to use the same strategy with two people leading and another checking. Next, we went to the maze and managed to be the group of Ms. Smith’s to find a way through and get everyone through.

I feel I was successful as a friend today while participating in Charger Trails because I went with the flow. In Hog Call, I would have liked to be a leader, but when I wasn’t I went with the flow and trusted the leader, following them to where they thought I should be. In Marble Luge, I also went with the flow and tried to pipe and pass well, and I think I did. In Maze, I trusted group members and if someone accidently gave me the wrong square, I didn’t blow up and start yelling at them. I just knew it wasn’t their fault and they were trying to help. That is why I felt I was a successful friend.

I felt I was successful as a team member because I participated, making me a good team member. I made my opions on where the person should go next in Maze heard, and I also made my ideas on how to succeed at Marble Luge heard. In Hog Call, I helped match people in the first round, then stepped down the second and let the other members of the team lead the second round.

Community and Friendship

Community and Friendship

Today in Charger Trails, I learned that teamwork and friendship are very big parts of our community. In the Marble Challenge, I learned that when you are allowed to talk, it is very important to have positive, and helpful communication with you group members. In the Hog Call, I learned to always listen to others ideas, because they could be very helpful. In the Maze, we couldn’t speak, so it was challenging, but Runyon made a map for us to use, and it was very helpful to some of us, but for the others that it did not help, Rohin stepped up and helped. This morning one of the main things that I learned was that sometimes it is good to be a leader, and other times it is good to be a follower, neither one is right or wrong, and neither one is better than the other. I had a great time at Charger Trails today, and I can’t wait to do it again next year.

Charger Trails

How I was successful as a team member and friend during charger trails

I was successful as a team member and friend because I helped my team complete the challenges. I helped my team find the right squares to step on during the aMAZEing maze, by showing them the path we already knew. I helped in the marble luge by holding and passing pipes to get the marble to it’s destination. And I helped in the hog call by trying to show people what word they had on the back of their chair and trying to match people with similar words.

Community and Friendship

When our group was doing the challenges we all had to use our leadership skills to help guide our team to get through the challenges. When we did the Hog Call challenge we had to find the person that had the word that went with yours. So we had to see what other people had to find out if they were a pair and since we couldn’t talk we tried to find out using other people to help you find your pair. So when we did the challenge we were all scooting around In our chairs to find the other person so we had to use our leadership skills to find the other person so I tried to go to each person and see what word they had and I would see if it matched up with mine.

When we did the maze challenge we had to use our leadership skills to find out which path work .  So we had people stand around the square and help guide people to the correct squares so that we can complete the challenge. We completed the first challenge and it took a while but it was because we weren’t organized. The second time we did it fast because we had a game plan and we were more organized.

When we did the marble maze we tried to think of a game plan.  Then when we had our plan we tried it and it didn’t work so we tried a new one. It didn’t work the first time so we tried it again and it worked. We had to use our leadership skills to try and come up with a new plan. When it was successful we celebrated as friends.

Community and Friendship

Today we did three activities. Hog call, the maze, marble challenge. The first activity we did was the hog call. The way this game worked is we each had a piece of paper on our back and we had to find our partner. I think I was a good teammate in this challenge because I was acting what the other people had on there back  and was trying to tell others different ideas. Most of us had the same ideas, but there were a few of us that had different ones. I think everyone eventually had the same idea. I was being a good friend when I was helping find my teammate’s partners. Since I could see what was on their backs, it was easy for me o find their partners.

In the maze, we all helped each other a lot. It was a trial and error game. In the first round we took a long time out find out the pattern. But the second time wasn’t as long. I was being a good teammate because I was helping out people when they didn’t know where to go or which squares had already been stepped on. Since we couldn’t talk, everyone was pointing to the squares that were correct or that we had not yet tried. I was being a good friend  in this game because when people got to a new square that was correct I would give them a thumbs up. If they didn’t get to a correct square then I wouldn’t grunt or get mad at them. The second time, we were doing things faster. When we were figuring out the entrance, everyone had a square that they stepped on and she said if it was right or wrong. After most of the people had gone we knew which square to start on. After we knew 2 or 3 squares, we all went in a line following the next person. This made it a lot faster.

In the marble game we were doing a really good job in the beginning. We were letting people speak and were listening to everyone’s ideas. After that we tried a few different ideas before getting to the one that worked.

Commuinty and friendship- Charger trails

Today, I took part in charger trails challenges. My team, and I worked together successfully to complete challenges during enrichment, as a group. There were 3 different challenges, the hog call, the marble challenge, and the maze. For each of these, we had to work together as a team, and all had to communicate, and show respect towards one another. I was successful as a team member by helping my teammates, as well as helping with the activity, and doing my part to lead to success. I also allowed my other team mates to lead, and help me and the team as a whole towards victory. During the maze challenge, I held back in the beginning to let my teammates go before me, to give me less chances to make a mistake, if I understood better. I was the final person to go through the maze, and my team was supportive of me, guiding me along the way, and helping me do the right thing. By working together, and hearing all ideas, my team worked very well together.

I worked as a friend with my team, by not blaming anyone for anything that was not a big deal. For example, during the marble challenge, I think just about all of my teammates, including me dropped the marble at one point. Sure, we might have been disappointed, but we got back up, and tried again. We were positive towards one another, and we were not rude or angry when there was a mistake made. We did not complete this challenge, but for us our hard work, and positive attitude was enough.

In the end, we worked together greatly, and it was a great team building activity, to learn more about cooperating with one another, and had lots of fun too!

Community & Friendship

Today we did Charger Trails. It is composed of three challenges, all completely different except for the basis of the activities, teamwork. They all required teamwork to be completed. We usually started by thinking of a good strategy for success. Usually someone said a strategy and then others who thought it was a good idea would edit it and make it better, covering the loopholes for failure. Our group (the Stewart Stereos) did exceptionally good on each challenge, thanks to our good teamwork and open minds. Oh, another thing that was similar in all the activities was that they were silent, making them more hard but team building.

I was a good team member and friend during the challenges, because like others I encouraged people and helped them out. When someone in our group messed up or made a wrong step (*cough*team member #7*cough*) me and the team members would help them more the next time, resulting in everyone success. I was a good friend because instead of yelling at people I kindly suggested that they change their strategies or listen to others ideas.

The Riptide worked together well because we communicated before each challenge, and also listened to each other’s ideas. We communicated a lot during the Marble Challenge. I spoke up during that challenge to help my team get through. Even though we practiced and practiced, we still couldn’t get the job done. We also listened to other’s ideas. During the Hog Call, David and Laura came up with some really good ideas. They suggested we get in a line and two people go through the line matching up people. I say we worked together and communicated during Charger Trails really splendid.

Marble luge, Hog call and the Maze

When we did these activities I thought that our advisory bonded well with each other  but, we didn’t let every body share these ideas. I think charger trails was a wonder experience to have with my enrichment class. The activity’s were challenging but once you get the hang of it it was just a game. Marble luge was where was had 12 PVC pipes and one marble the marble cant touch the floor but the person withe the marble can’t move but have to get it in the cup. I think this challenge was difficult because we didn’t know how to approach it. We never did complete the challenge but were very close. The Hog calls were where we had a word taped to our back and then had to match them with each other and we couldn’t talk. This one was easier challenges because people would point to each other and they would match up. The last challenge was the maze… The was was a four by four mat. Then we would have to complete it without making any noise unless we would restart. This was the hardest challenge because if we made one mistake you had to restart I think many leaders rose up and helped each other.

“Some times there are too many chef in the kitchen”.

Community and Friendship

Our team was especially good at figuring out the challenges when we were at the marble maze. We had several great ideas,  but as we went through trial-and-error, we settled on one, and it worked. Then, we were challenged to always keep a piece of PVC pipe in our hands the whole time. We had some more trial-and-error, but we figured it out and finished just in time. This shows that we can figure things out even under pressure. I look forward to future team building events!

Community and Friendship

This year’s Charger Trails was exciting and educational at the same time. Everyone was being a friend and a great teammate in some way. In general, everyone was cheering their teammates on and helping them. Charger Trails not only was fun, but it helped me to be a great friend and teammate.

Charger Trails allowed me to show my friendliness toward others. During Marble Luge, I allowed my friends to try their ideas even though it might not work. When people wanted to move me in Hog Call, I just stayed at the place they assigned me to until they move me again. Even though the Maze was confusing, I let others guide me through the maze. Overall, everyone including me was a caring friend with each other.

Not only did Charger Trails show my friendliness, but it also displayed me as a teammate. In Marble Luge, I was doing what people instructed me to do and where to go. Sometimes I would help the leader in Hog Call to match up the pairs and which pair was wrong. My teammates and I were also pointing the direction the person should move to in the Maze. Charger Trails teaches me how to be a hard-working teammate.

Team Work

The stereos and I became successful because we all got to be leaders. Every activity I learned more about that it’s okay to mess up. An example is that when I messed up in the maze and everyone had to start over my teammates still cheered me on and we ended up succeeding. We were the first team of the day to succeed. I encouraged everyone. My friends may have messed up but I messed up too. Every one helped me. Today I think that I understand more about team work and letting other people be in charge for once.

The Activates

The first activity I got to be a leader. It was the marble lunge. At first we tried to make a big line. But since that wasn’t working we did my idea. We passed along the tube. We did that in one try. We celebrated and everyone thanked me. The next activity was hog call. We easily got through the first one by choosing a leader. The leader was the only one who moved. Some people had trouble with that. They didn’t trust the leader. The second round we were better by trusting everyone. I helped check the work just in case. We used team work and we finished fast and accurate. Overall I think that I learned a lot. We laughed a lot because having fun with our friend helped us succsed.

Community and Friendship

Today during charger trails our group was very successful because we always tried to include everyone and listen to their ideas. I think I did best during the maze because I tried to help them point out where they had to go and I didn’t talk. We also made sure that everyone felt good and when someone made a mistake, we wouldn’t get made at them because everyone makes mistakes.

Community and Friendship

For our first game, the matching game, the team mates were very helpful. The team mates pretty much helped each other out to match their paper. Sometimes, you don’t always  have to be walking around to find your match, you may have to step down for other people to do things which may be more effective than what you are doing. For our second activity, the maze, teamwork was everything. When we tried it, the other people helped by pointing, clapping and leading us towards the right squares. It was important to not talk, and the team mates were helpful in trying to help, all while being silent. They were nice if we messed up, because they didn’t argue or embarras each other. For our last challange, it was important to listen to everyone, because everyone may have different ideas. Some may have been better than others, but all were included and tried. We had to use team work because we all had to have a part in taking the marble somewhere. We included everyone in taking the marble, because it was absolutely nececary, and it worked out very well.

charger trails/trials

I was successful as a friend because I was talking to people, while I was successful as a teammate because I came up with a few ideas to help the team and I also followed other people’s ideas to do activities. In the aMAZEing, I listened to the directions given by other people and in the Marble Luge, I helped come up with a few ideas to transport the marble.

Charger trails day

I was successful as a team mate because I gave my ideas, but still listened to other people. I also helped by telling people where to go in the word on the words on the back of chairs challenge. I also gave ideas for the marble challenge, and listened to other people’s ideas, and together we passed all three challenges. I think my advisory works together greatly.

Community and Friendship

At Charger trails today we were pretty successful. We didn’t do so well in the first activity the “Marble Challenge” but other than that we did great. I didn’t act specifically as a leader of follower. I helped other people when they were confused and did what others told me to do when they had an idea. With the Maze, when I was in it I was confused on exactly where to go so I followed a team member as they told me what to do. I also helped the others as they went through and didn’t know exactly what to do. The hog call was kind of a mess but we ended up getting it right and I also helped make a few pairs.

Our group was also pretty friendly. We talked about our ideas and we kindly either accepted or explained that they didn’t really work. Everyone was included as a friend and helped each other in some way. Some of the time we had the same ideas and it was nice to know that in some ways, we thought very similarly. I think I did well being a team member and a friend. In the end everyone was happy and working together.

Community and Friendship

During Charger Trails I think that we did a really good job of sharing our ideas. We planned out the stuff that we did before we started the game. During Hog Calls I think we did really well with the planning of attack. David came up with a really good idea to help pair us up, and then we had tweaked it a bit and changed it. That was how we worked together as a team to accomplish what we needed to do. We were also really good at helping each other cross the Maze and get all of us through without having to repeat the game. We had some really good leaders in our group; Rohin was able to help us remember the path by showing us which direction to go in. We also had good strategist in our team, like the time that Runyon helped us to get across that maze also. He made a map of the right way to get across once someone had already made it across. Finally in the marble challenge we listened to everyone’s ideas and even though we did not get it in the cup we still got the right concept of working together as a team.

Community and Friendship

I think that I was successful as a friend and as a team member because I helped other people out and I didn’t try to make people feel uncomfortable.

For the Marble Luge, I thought we were struggling at first because we kept doing the same strategy. Then we thought of a new strategy and it worked well. We were inches from completing the task, but we were unlucky and missed the cup. I think that I had continued the idea of Alex L.’s idea of chopsticks, but thought of an alternative. Now that think about it, I think there was a better way of completing the task, which was to put everyone behind the person with the marble, so it was easier to get in the cup.

For the Hog Call, I think we did very good. We figured out how to get the partners together fast, because people were helping each other. I think that we should have had 1 or 2 leaders instead of everyone being a leader because it would make things a lot faster. Though, we thought as a team and successfully completed the challenge. I was trying to help people know what there word was by referring to gestures and other words.

The Maze Challenge was probably the harder than the rest, but with the help  of Ms. Lund, we were able to complete the task faster and more efficiently. We did a line, instead of one by one. I think that we could have worked on everyone agreeing on a certain position instead of pointing at a square and never changing their mind. I think that I could have improved on helping people.

Overall, I think that the challenge required a lot of teamwork, but was most importantly: fun.

Community and Friendship

How were you successful as a friend and team member during the Charger Trails Challenges Today? The Maze, Marble Maze, Hog Call

We were successful during the Hog Call since we did not get frustrated at each other or at the activity. Even when one of the pairs were matched up wrong we just walked over to the right pair. For the blue set of cards in the Hog Call we selected one person to be the leader. Everyone else would stand with their backs to the leader so that he could pair us up. Once everyone was paired up the leader paired up with the last person left that did not have a pair. For the Maze no one was allowed to talk just like in the Hog Call. When someone made a sound and we all had to start over we did not get frustrated with the person that made us start over. Everyone on the team helped out the person that was on the maze by pointing at the square that the person was supposed to go to next. During the Marble Maze since we were able to talk we came up with a number of ideas. We had four or five ideas and we tested out each idea to see which ones were the best. One of the ideas was to line up and work together with our pipes to bring the marble to the end.

Community and Friendship

In Charger Trails, I was a follower in some parts of the three activities (marble challenge, hog call, and maze). I tried to help people if they forgot the correct way. In Hog Call, I think I was more of a follower but in the marble challenge, I came up with an idea that could have worked so I think that in Charger Trails, I was a mix of leader and follower.

Community and Friendship

During the Charger Trails Challenges my team and I were very successful. We did very well showing support and respect to each other as well as giving each other constructive criticism. One of the things we did best was taking everyone’s ideas and sorting them into groups instead of just yelling over everyone else’s ideas. During the maze someone came up with the idea that whenever someone made it to another square we would clap which suppressed the urge to call out in excitement and have to start over.

Community and Friendship

I think I was successful as a friend and a team member in Charger Trails.  In Hog Calls I listened to everyones ideas while not interrupting and used hand signals to signify what the names on their backs were.  I was successful in helping people find their matching words and I found my matching word every time.  In the maze we all shared our ideas without interruption in the second maze.  In the first maze I didn’t cooperate with people that much and that took a lot of time.  In the second maze  we got our ideas and I cooperated much more and solved most of the puzzle.  I helped people that forgot the way to go and we solved in within 3 minutes it seemed.  In marble challenge we got our ideas out quickly and efficiently and we solved the problem using a good technique that we all agreed on.  I shared my idea on the second challenge but it failed because people weren’t listening anymore.  That is where we fell apart and nothing could get people to listen to a good idea.  I think I that I was successful at cooperating as a friend and as a teammate.

community and friendship

I was successful today as a team member and a friend during charger trails today. some reasons why are…

during the Hog call activity I helped many people find their match making the game funnier (which will be a word one day) and also easier and less frantic. in the marble challenge I helped my team by suggesting new ideas when needed and listening to others when the suggested new ideas. this made the challenge easier because we then had more ideas to try and more of a chance to get the challenge completed.  In the maze activity I helped by trying the right spaces.

I was successful as both a friend and a team member while participating in the Charger Trails challenges today for many reasons.  First of all being part of a team means sharing your ideas, listening to others, and coming up with great things by putting the team’s heads and skills together.  Today in the Charger Trails activities, one way I contributed as a team member was during the marble activity.  I contributed by sharing my ideas on how to get the marble into the cup.  After I shared my ideas, other team members thought about what I said and added on to it.  So, successfully as a team we got the marble into the cup.  Another way I was successful as a team member was during the “hog call” activity.  I was successful as a team member during that challenge because I acted out what words other people had on their chair so they would know who to be paired up with.  Also in that activity I contributed because I had an idea of writing peoples words on a white board.  During the maze challenge I was again successful as a team member because I pointed to where a team member should go to complete the maze correctly.  I feel that with the many activities we have done as an advisory team, they have made us a strong team.  We have found out that different people are good leaders at different times.  We have also realized that a team works more successfully together when everyone is involved.

Community and Friendship

This morning we started off our day with a series of activities called Charger Trails. The series consisted of three activities called the Hog Call, Marble Challenge, and Maze. In the hog call, I thought we were successful because we all listened to each other’s ideas. For example: David stepped up and said that we should all get in a line and he would tap you on the shoulder, so then you would partner up. In the Maze, I thought Rohin Stepped up and was a great leader because of how he guided people through the maze only using his hands and gestures. On the marble challenge, I thought that Runyon stepped up became a leader by trying to give as many ideas as he could and tried to mush them al together.

Community & Friendship

I was successful being a friend because being a friend is supposed to be loyal. I think of everyone as a good person/ friend because they show their true colors. Friends are supposed to be loyal and friendly, well….. most. When I was participating in the Charger Trail, my friends didn’t yell at me when I took a wrong step or ruined everything up. During the Maze, everyone cooperated and they seemed like they known each other for years. We everyone finished the Maze, we clapped. After, we guided the next person to finish the maze and repeated.

I was a team member in my team because I helped reach them to success. Being a team member doesn’t necessarily mean being the leader and have the main role in everything. All of my teammates worked together to reach a specific group. We talked it all out and see which ideas the most important and effective and we shall do it. When it doesn’t work, we look for another idea that may work and see how it’s similar or not. I feel like we got to know each other more than before. The Marble Luge needed a lot of teamwork because we needed to here other people’s idea and use those pipes to handle things. Even if I dropped the marble, they partially didn’t blame all at me. The Hog Call needed a leader that puts people’s cards together. We choose different ideas that would work like having a person who matches it all up and having a checker (me) to check if it’s a right. Charger Trail is really fun!

Community and Friendship

Community and friendship is what makes a team, and today I think the Stereos made a pretty good team.

To have a good community, everyone has to do their best and help out. Nobody’s perfect, but everyone can try their hardest to do their best. Some people don’t like to try, but if people encourage them and help them out, you will have a successful community. I think the hardest challenge today was the Maze. You had to try a lot of different strategies to do the maze, and if you don’t work together, you won’t find your strategy. The Maze was a challenge where everyone had to help each other, and if we didn’t, we wouldn’t have got it.

If you want a community, you have to have friendship. Friendship was really important in the Hog Call challenge, because you had to trust each other, and trust is a part of friendship. We also had to be positive and not take it the wrong way when we didn’t get chosen for the matcher. We had to trust the matcher and let the matcher do the job. At first, everyone was trying to be the matcher and take over, but when we let the matcher do the job alone, we were successful. When we used community and friendship, we made a great team.

Community and Friendship

In Charger Trails this morning, we played three team-building games, Marble Challenge, Hog Call, and Maze. In the first game (Marble Challenge) we were supposed to make a marble travel through PVC pipes to go from one place to another. For this one, I helped my team by listening to their ideas and using my head if it would actually logically work without testing it out. The second game (Hog Call) we were supposed to pair up together according to the word on our back but we didn’t know our word nor could we talk. We were good at this and I helped my team by trying to sort out different people and pointing at them which person they should partner up with. For the last game (Maze) we were supposed to walk across sixteen squares, walking across each one in a specific pattern. I helped my teammates by point each square they were supposed to cross. In each of these games, I was a follower but that didn’t really affect me. As a group, I felt like we didn’t argue with each other a lot and made compromises. That saved us some time as well.

Community and Friendship

In charger trails I learned many things.  I learned how to work as a team and listen to other ideas.  We worked together to change some ideas to make them better.  I was a leader in the maze activity but in the others followers.  The marble activity is really hard but we worked through it.  I need to work on communicating through.  It the hog call everyone was sort of just working together without a leader.  In the marble challenge Runyon was the leader and he talked a lot about what we were supposed to do.  No one felt left out from their ideas.  Everyone’s ideas were listened to and some were used.

Community and Friendship

Community and Friendship

Charger Trails has many team-building exercises that make us work together as a community and friend. One activities that I liked the most was the marble luge. I liked the marble luge because we threw ideas out and we tested them. One of the ideas that we came up with was making an actual marble track, which didn’t work after three tries. The last idea was interesting because it had you not make a marble track, but instead hold the marble in a tube and work as a team to get it to the destination.

Being a friend at Charger Trails is a big part about the activities because it is about teamwork and how you use teamwork to succeed in the activity. For example, when we were doing the marble luge, we had to brainstorm ideas and come up with a solution to the problem. We tried doing it one way, but the second one worked better, and I think that it did because we worked better as a team. Also in the maze, we had to develop a solution to the maze and find out how to get through it. We worked together as friends to find a path to the end.

On the hog call, we chose a team leader who put people in groups to make words. The community in Charger Trails was also a large part about the activities. This is because if we never knew each other, then it would be harder to communicate, but now, we have known each other for about two and a half months and it is easier to work together.

Community and Friendship

Our first activity was Marble Luge. I think I was successful as team member in that activity because I listened to what everyone agreed on and what some leaders said. I think I was kind of successful as a friend because I tried to help as best as I could, but I don’t think I did anything to help someone else. Our second activity was Hog Call. I believe I was successful as a team member and a friend because I decided to trust the people who were trying to help me, but I don’t think I did much to help other people. Our third activity was the Maze. I think I was successful as a team member because I listened to where some people told me to go. I sometimes went where I wanted to go because different people were telling me to go to different places so I made a decision instead. I was a friend because I tried to help the people in front of me if they forgot where to go.

Community and Friendship

How were you successful as both a friend and a team member participating in the Charger Trails activities today?

As a team member I was helping to figure out strategies and solutions to the problems that the activities were encountering. During the Hog call, as a team member, I was helping other team mates match up with their correct partner. We could not talk so it was difficult. I instead, we used hand gestures to get our team mates attention. In the maze challenge, we could not talk either. We couldn’t even make an “mmm” sound to get people’s attention. I helped people by pointing to the next spot where thy are suppose to step. In the marble challenge, as a team mate, I helped come up with ways to put the marble inside of the red solo cup. At the end of each activity, we successfully completed each challenge as a team.

As a friend, I helped people make it across the maze, supported them with their ideas, and listened to what they had in mind and what they had to say. This made people feel good and part of the team.

Community and Friendship

I think that charger trails was very successful because everyone was both a friend and a teammate in the various activities that we did. One of these examples was in the Hog Call, when Mr. Rokuskie taped different words on our backs and we had to partner with the person with the matching word. I think that everyone was a leader in some way because everyone was cooperating and helping get people together with their matches. Also, in the Marble Luge we tried many different ways to get a marble 18 feet into a cup. After many failed attempts we still couldn’t get it in. I think that the reason this happened was because we weren’t listening to everybody’s suggestions and only trying certain things that we thought were ok.  The last example that I have is the Maze Challenge. I think that we worked really well after we tried different ideas and different things. We started off with going one by one, but then we realized that that was going way to slow, so we started a line, which made that process much more fast and efficient. I think that this experience made our advisory better friends.

Community and Friendship

The shipposauruses had a lot of teamwork while doing these 3 activities. I tried to be a leader in all of them, but, it turned out I wasn’t the best leader. Hogcall was a fun  game. We all made the mmph sounds to ‘talk’ to each other. On the marble challenge we started off very well but at the end we started to lose our tempo. At the maze we all communicated with pointing to each box of where we should go next. Overall we all worked really well together.

Community and Friendship

I just completed the Charger Trails course. I was a helpful and successful teammate because i listened to others and i took took turns talking and let other people share their ideas. I also participated by helping come up with new strategies, especially for the marble game when i pointed out that we should try a range of different ideas and see which one was most successful and improve it from their. I also pointed out faults and said what i thought we could do better. I also complimented my peers in my advisory when they helped us be successful.

I was a helpful friend because i complimented my peers in my advisory when they helped us be successful. And i cheered them on when they had found another match in Hog Call, the matching name game we played. I gave high fives and helped my friends build confidence and keep trying new ideas. Overall i liked Charger Trails, a lot of my friends who i thought would not like taking charge or being a leader or verbally giving us instructions did and they chose to stand out as a leader. So basically i am very proud of my advisory and my friends for sticking out as leaders and trying their best.

Trimester 1 Charger Trail.

Today was charger trails at Cary Academy.  We did 3 different activates today, one of them is the amazing maze. Are whole advisory had to work together to succeed in the activities, for example with marble challenge we had to find out a way to get the marble across the room without touching it with are hands and we could not let it touch the ground or we would have to start over. We were very successful with this one because we did all 3 challenges to get the marble across the room on the first or second try. For the amazing maze we tried over 20 times just to finish the maze, this one in my opinion was the hardest. We could not talk so we had to point and we had to be persist on the blocks that we walked on. If we did not walk on the right block every time we had to go to the back of the line and just wait. The last one that we did was Hog call. This one was easy but hard at the same time. We got a word on the back of our chair and we would have to find the person that we were matched up with. For the first round is was very simple but at the second it got hard,

I was successful as a teammate because I think I worked well with the others and listened to their ideas as they listened to mine. I also encouraged people and did not blame people for what they did. The reason that we were so successful on the different activities is because all of us did this and that gave us the opportunity to succeed. For example, when someone messed up on the maze, we all were sad but we didn’t blame them. We stopped and encouraged them and then tried again and succeeded. Also, when we were doing the marble luge, we all had different ideas but we listened to each other and came up with a better one using everyone’s ideas.

I was successful as a friend because of the same reasons like encouraging people and not blaming them. That helped our team because it kept our friendships together and we were able to get through the problem when something happened and we had to redo it again. The entire team also did this and that is what had kept us together and we did not get frustrated at someone or at the activity. I think that the activity also helped us bond because we were able to begin to trust each other and we formed friendships because of this. We were able to find each other’s strengths and weaknesses and we are a stronger team because of it. For example, when we had first messed up on the second part of the hog call, we worked as friends and kindly corrected them.

Community and Friend Ship

My favorite activity was the maze. The beginning of The Maze was fun because, that was when we had to figure out the path. Once we figured out the path Matthew directed everyone because he memorized the path. After that other people stepped up and helped directing people. Hog Call was fun too. During Hog Call Mrs. Lopez put words on our backs and we had to find our pare without talking. That was tricky but then we figured out a strategy. Our strategy was Kali matches people while everyone stands in a line. This worked well  but the words were hard to match. The other one was The Marble Challenge. This challenge was hard because we had to put a marble in a cup across the room. We could only make it travel with gravity and in small tubes. My group did not complete it.

Trimester 1 Charger Trail Reflection

Today in the charger trails activities I was successful in a few ways as a friend and as a team member. I was successful as a friend by encouraging my friend to share her idea. I encouraged her by telling her she is right and that there are no wrong answers. Today as a team member I was a successful especially during the marble activity and the amazing maze. I was also okay during Hog Call activity. During the marble activity I went along with what others said because I realized that I wouldn’t be the best leader. I still participated and volunteered to do a little extra work to get the job done. During the maze I was a good team member because I went with what others said and that got us through the puzzle. For the Hog Call I tried to help the group make a pair, especially when there was a conflict. I helped people see the pair when they didn’t understand. Today I improved in many ways as a friend and a team member.

Community and Friendship

I think that I was successful in many ways as a friend and a team member. I think that in Hog Call that I was a leader because I helped come up with our idea to stand in a line and then we could find our partners. It is very important to be not only a team member but a friend. If you are not a friend to someone then you could hurt them, if you yell at them that is not being a friend. I think our advisory worked really well together and we listened to everyone’s ideas, and even if we didn’t agree with someone’s idea then we would still hear them out. I think the Charger Trail Challenges were really helpful and fun for our advisory and it was really fun and helpful for me.

Community and friendship

In the events we did today I feel I did pretty good. As we did each activity I tried to come up with new ideas and take from other peoples ideas. For Example in the maze if other people didn’t know where to go I would help and guide them. Or in the marble challenge I came up with new ideas and shared them. And when they gave me input and told me what to do I would listen. As a friend I did not yell or get mad at people when they didn’t do something correct. I also cheered on for people who discovered something new. Also on hogcall I collaborated with people With hand gestures to see if we match up.

-Ravi

Charger Trails Reflection

I was successful as a friend and as a team member by helping out by giving ideas, by saying helpful things, and by helping out and trying to communicate and tell people their word without saying anything in the word challenge. I had an idea about the marble tub challenge that you can put two tube together and a short tube and one side, then you can put the marble next to the short tube and in between the two long tubes. I said helpful things and helped out on the maze when I helped tell people where to go if they had forgotten where to go. In the word challenge I would try to mouth the words and use hand symbols to tell people their word.

Community and Friendship

This morning during our Charger Trails Challenges, I think my advisory worked much better together cooperating as a team than we did on our class trip. When we were at Camp Hanes, we had more than one person talking at a time when we were sharing our ideas, so the teamwork building session turned into a giant yelling mess. This morning, we were calmer and tended to come up with a strategy everybody agreed on very fast.  All three activities that we did were pretty successful because we achieved the main goals without too much trouble.

Community and Friendship

For Charger Trail there were a couple of things I think I did very well. I thought that I listened to others ideas patiently even if I didn’t think they would work. For example, during the marble challenge. I listened to Alex’s ideas even though some of them I didn’t completely agree with. I still think I need to work on accepting being more of a follower than a leader sometimes. At my old school I was usually the one during projects who took on the leader role, so it’s kind of hard for me to follow other people. I still need to work on that. I also think that I tried to keep a positive attitude when things were getting tough. During the maze I started following Rohan’s example and started showing people what to do. I needed to be a little more positive during that because when people hesitated too much it kind of frustrated me. I didn’t really understand why they were stopping and I kept hitting the place they were supposed to go really hard to get them to go there and trust me. That was unfair since when I was doing the maze I hesitated too.

Community and Friendship

How were you successful as both a friend and a teammate in the Charger Trials today?

The marble challenge, the hog call, and maze challenge helped me to be successful as both a friend and a teammate today. Each activity was different, but each activity did the same thing to me. Every activity made me really thing about teamwork and community, and I felt like it improved my teamwork skills. I learned a lot about my advisory members and I think we were really successful as a whole. I was successful as a friend because I helped a lot of people and had a lot of fun. I feel like I know some people better now, and that my friendship has improved with the people I was doing the activities with. I was successful as a teammate for some of the same reasons. I helped people and had some ideas that actually worked. I am looking forward to the next time we do an activity like this with our advisories.

Charger Trails

In today’s activities we had to use collaboration and teamwork. We found that a lot of people were leaders in different ways. When we could not talk, we used hand signals to communicate between each other. We did three activities, Hog Call, the Amazing Maze, and Marble Tube. In all of these activities, different leaders stepped up and many ideas were presented and we decided which ones were the best. Each game had a twist; but in the end we had fun doing everything.

Community and Friendship

In chargertrails I  was successful as a team member because I helped my teammates by pointing out the route we already knew in the maze. I was successful as a friend because I communicated with my friends to help them with the hog call when they were unsure what to do. When participating in the marble challenge I shared some ideas with my teammates and we tried some of them. I think the marble challenge was the hardest for my team because people had a lot of different ideas. I was successful as a teammate when one of the ideas I came up with was put to the test. I was successful as a team member and as a friend in chargertrails because my teammates listened to my ideas and helped make them work.

Community and Friendship

I was successful as a friend and team member because all of the lobsters were working together and being supportive for each other.  We all came up with ideas and worked towards the goal. We were successful because we completed two of the three activities. As a friend I was successful because we all worked together and had fun doing it.

Community and Friendship

I was successful as a teammate when I helped direct people in the right directions during the maze and when I helped with solutions to the marble challenge. As a friend I didn’t get mad at someone when they made a mistake, I felt a little disappointed but I wouldn’t make them feel bad about their mistake. I think Charger Trails helped me work more with my advisory and learn to cooperate with them.

Community and Friendship

How were you successful as a friend and a team member while participating in the Charger Trails challenges?

I was successful in being a team member during the Maze challenge because I helped my teammates step in the right squares. I was a good friend during the maze challenge because I didn’t get mad at anybody if they stepped in the wrong square (It was mostly guessing so there was no reason to get mad at anybody).

During the marble challenge, I communicated very well with my teammates. I was also successful in being a friend during the marble challenge because I didn’t blame anybody if they dropped it, because it was a team effort.

I was successful in being a team member during the hog call because I followed the plan that my team and I had made.

Community and Friendship

Today we had Charger Trails. The Taygers team was successful and completed all our challenges. I was a good team member because I listed to ideas and encouraged my team members. I was a good leader because I came up with new ideas and sometimes took charge. I think that I was a good leader and a good team member during Charger Trails today.

Community and Friendship

I was successful today at charger trails by working and collaborating with the other students. A lot of the ideas and suggestions from other students resulted in the team reaching the goals. In the maze activity, some of the students were leaders and pointed team members in the right direction through the maze and the rest followed the ideas. In the tube activity, lots of people had many great ideas to finish the path from the start to the cup, but we needed more practice to complete one of them. In the hog call activity, the team had different ideas to match the two people in a group, we tried all of them and it resulted with us reaching the goal. Throughout all of the activities, the team was open to suggestions and there no one dictating ideas. I learned that trying others ideas is a good way to reach a goal.

Community and Friendship

I think Charger Trails was a great experience for everyone in the grade. It was a great way to incorporate education with fun activities. I think I was successful as a friend because I was able to connect with everyone in my advisory. It was a great way to get to know people even more than I already do. I was surprised with how successful our group was In all of the challenges. we really communicated well and listened to everyone’s ideas. I think I improved as a team member by really thinking outside of the box to get the activities done. I really enjoyed the  marble challenge because our group had very good ideas to get the marble in the cup despite the rules. I really enjoyed charger trails and hope to do it again soon.

Community and Friendship

I think that I was successful as a team member in the Hog Call when I quickly found my partner in it. In the Maze Challenge I think I worked because I helped find a few squares that we had to go to in order to beat the maze. In the Marble Challenge I was successful because I helped think of ideas that weren’t very good but were still ideas. I was successful as a friend in Hog Call because I was agreeing with people when they were telling me to partner up with someone. In the Maze Challenge I was successful as a friend when I was encouraging people to pick the right square. With the Marble Challenge, I worked good as a friend because I agreed to other people’s ideas.

Community and Friendship

We were successful as a team because during the Marble Challenge experiment, we had to connect the tubes in a way to make them work. We had to do a lot of experimenting. During Hog Call, we each had a thing taped to our backs and had to find our pair, which meant we had to go around without speaking, and others tried to tell you what you were with hand motions or by just pointing towards the one that matched yours. The second round of Hog Call was different then the first round. We all lined up and had one person match everyone into pairs. The other game we did was The Maze. It was interesting, since you had to step on all the cubes and there was only one solution. It was kind of frustrating when one kid messed up, but we had to work as a team to make sure everybody eventually got it correct.

Community Friendship

I tried to help in all the events we did, and made improvements. In the maze, everybody did help. I helped to make sure people didn’t mess up when doing the maze. We already knew most of the route when I came to help. I also helped in the maze by finding new paths for people to go to. I helped as a friend by trying to cheer people up, and make new ways to try in the marble challenge. In the marble challenge, I never failed. “I haven’t failed yet, I just found 10000 ways that won’t work.” By Thomas Edison.

Community and Friendship

I think that we kind of failed at the end. In these challenges I think that we did fail on the marble one but I think that we did well on the maze and the hog call. We should have elected a leader for the marble challenge and we almost did, but it was either half the team or one person saying no to it. I think that I was a good teammate but how should I know. I think that I did my share in submitting ideas. As for as a friend I am absolutely clueless about how I did during these challenges. At the first thing we went and did it very well but then it just went downhill. In the maze we were all fighting for attention including me and we did not have a set leader which was necessary to do it well. On the marble challenge we started really well and eventually I wanted a break because we were all yelling which made my head hurt. All in all I think that we did well then horrible.

Community and Friendship

As a group during charger trails, we were mostly successful.  I found that gestures usually worked well when doing challenges that you weren’t allowed to talk in.  During the maze,  I also found it helpful to try to do exactly as the people who were guiding it pointed, because if I had not,  I would have stepped in the wrong square and my whole team would have had to start over. During Hog Call, I found that it helped to trust the people telling me to pare up with someone else.  Our group was mostly successful in everything we did, except for the last activity, where we had to carry the marble across the floor, through pipes.

Community and Friendship

In the Charger Trails Challenges this morning, our team did pretty well on The Maze and we almost completed it but people would make the slightest noise and everybody would fail. We also did pretty well on the Marble Maze and figured out a way to pass the marble along with everybody always holding a PVC pipe. In the Marble Maze we made a big plan before we started and used THE GOLDEN SNITCH as a object that you have to hold to talk. We didn’t do so good at Hog Call but we still managed to (almost) complete it in under 3 minutes.

Community and Friendship

I find I was a successful team member during the Charger Trails. I cheered my advisory on, and helped them get through challenges. I feel proud to say that my advisory cheered me on while I was unsure what to do in some of the challenges.

I feel like I was a successful friend because I was kind to everybody, and respected everybody’s ideas. I tried everybody’s ideas, and figured out more successful ideas from them.

I had a lot of fun with my advisory, and especially loved our teamwork.

Community and Friendship

In these activities I was helpful to my group as a friend and team member by participating in all activities and not being to much of a leader. This caused my group and I to get lots of work done. I felt like I was a leader but also a follower because I was doing what everyone else was doing but still came up with new ideas. These games brought us together and made us work as a team and be a good friend to each other throughout the whole thing.

Community and Friendship

Charger Trail was a great experience. We worked together and tried to figure out difficult puzzles such as hogs call, the maze, and marble challenge. I cheered my friends on and thought of new ideas for figuring out hard problems. My favorite game was the maze. I helped show people which square to go in and cheered people on when they finished. It was frustrating when people messed up because everyone had to start over, but it happens. I think I was very successful on both a friend and a team member.

Community and friendship

I was successful as a friend and because on the hog call I was paring people up with other people and I was a good friend at the maze when I got to help other people through the maze. During the hog call I found that the gestures sometimes were helpful but not all of the time. I think that They were helpful when you had already found your partner and you were trying to figure what word you were.  The marble challenge was really hard and we worked very well as a group, we tried a lot of things. They all would have worked if we had more practice.

Community and Friendship

While participating in charger trails I feel that I was a great team member and friend. While doing the maze I feel that I was a great leader. After I had finished (which I was the first one) I pointed to the squares which everyone had to pass through to successfully accomplish the task. I felt that during the marble challenge I was a good freeing and team member by encouraging peoples ideas and coming up with some of my own ideas. Overall I thought that it was a great experience.

Community and Friendship

My team was successful at the marble maze because we cooperated and took turns talking.  We beat this challenge twice and we all worked together quickly and efficiently.  We figured out the pattern for the maze quickly.  We figured out the trick to this maze, but it was hard because we could not talk.  In the hog call, we did well the first time, but we struggled the second time.  My group really enjoyed the charger trails.

Community and Friendship

We were  successful as friends and a team members during charger trails today by using teamwork and listening to other peoples ideas. In the maze we helped each other by showing the each person where to go and where not to go. In the marble maze we listened to everyone’s ideas and this caused us to successfully complete the task. During the hog call we listened to ideas and elected a leader so not all of us were running around so we could figure it out quicker. This caused us to complete all of the tasks successfully.

Community And Friendship

I think I was a good team member and friend. In the maze challenge in the hallway I stepped up and was a leader to the group but halfway through I took a break because my back was hurting from leaning over and pointing for so long. I was also a friend during the marble challenge because I listened to other peoples ideas and let them do them. I think I did a good job with the charger trails challenges and grew as a team member and friend.

Charger Trails

The success came from the communication weather it was verbally or non-verbally. That was the key to success each activity. Sometimes while being a team member, pointing or using hand signals was a good tool. It was really fun to work together as a group and achieve all of the goals. I was successful as a friend and a team member by helping all of my friends in my advisory out. It was surprising that we made everything more complicated than it needed to be. We used a lot of teamwork by pointing to solve the maze. It was very hard to get through it, but we solved it with just enough time. While doing the marble maze, we used all of the tubes to make our plan a success. We were able to build off of our first idea and make a new plan to solve the other challenges. In hog call, we used the pointing because we were not able to talk. The first round was easy, but the second round was hard because there were a couple of words that could’ve gone together but only one pair matched right. The hog call was a very fun and hard challenge.

Charger Trails was very fun!

Community and Friendship

I was successful as a  friend during the charger trails during the second rotation. In the second rotation I came up with the idea of a talking object. This kept my friends calm and not yelling at each other. I was a successful team member by helping people find the right squares in the maze. This helped us eliminate the wrong tiles and almost finish the challenge.

Community and Friendship

I was successful because I helped my team during the Maze by pointing to the correct square that they should go too. Most of us did this, so it was very helpful to the person actually going. During the Marble Maze we decided that we had to sit down and pass the marble through the tubes all the way to the end. It took us a while but we were able to do it. I was one of the main people helping on that activity.  During the Hog Call, we elected a leader to match everybody up. I was not that person. I tried to help by staying still but it did not work.
