Trimester One- Charger Trail Reflection

Trimester One- Charger Trail Reflection

Natasha Sachar

I was successful as both a friend and a team member while participating in the Charger Trails challenges today for many reasons.  First of all being part of a team means sharing your ideas, listening to others, and coming up with great things by putting the team’s heads and skills together.  Today in the Charger Trails activities, one way I contributed as a team member was during the marble activity.  I contributed by sharing my ideas on how to get the marble into the cup.  After I shared my ideas, other team members thought about what I said and added on to it.  So, successfully as a team we got the marble into the cup.  Another way I was successful as a team member was during the “hog call” activity.  I was successful as a team member during that challenge because I acted out what words other people had on their chair so they would know who to be paired up with.  Also in that activity I contributed because I had an idea of writing peoples words on a white board.  During the maze challenge I was again successful as a team member because I pointed to where a team member should go to complete the maze correctly.  I feel that with the many activities we have done as an advisory team, they have made us a strong team.  We have found out that different people are good leaders at different times.  We have also realized that a team works more successfully together when everyone is involved.

Clothing Worn In Ancient Egypt

  • Light and simple clothing was worn that was made from linen.
  • The average man wore length of cloth wrapped around the waist and a plain shirt.
  • An average lady wore long skirts, sleeveless dresses, and sometimes would top her outfit with a square shawl.
  • The upper class or rich people wore the same style clothing as average people; but it was better quality and they could afford dyes like gold and yellow for their clothes. (Lower class had white clothes.)

Jewelry

  • In Ancient Egypt, a lot of jewelry was worn by everyone. Men and women, rich and poor all wore jewelry.
  • Wearing Jewelry was a way to improve one’s attractiveness in the eyes of others and of the gods. Many wore earrings, broad collars with stands of beads, chest adornments, bracelets, armbands, rings, collars, and anklets. They loved their Jewelry!
  • Gold and semiprecious stones such as carnelian, lapis lazuli, and turquoise were used to create very valuable pieces.

Hair and Body

  • Ancient Egyptians paid great attention to their hair. Some people dyed hair with henna and others cut their hair very short or just shaved their head bald.
  • Some wealthy people owned wigs made from real human hair. As an added adornment, people tied cones of scented animal fat which are called perfumed pomades to their wigs.
  • Men and women both wore the same amount of makeup!
  • Ancient Egyptians colored their eyelids with a green substance made from a soft stone called malachite. They also outlined eyes with black kohl, a substance of lead ore mixed with water. They did this to protect eyes from sun and make eyes look bigger.
  • Men and women both adorned themselves with cosmetics. They used perfumed oils to soften skin and keep it from getting ruined in desert climate.

My Favorite SeedFolks Character

Leona is my favorite SeedFolks character because she is confident, gets things done, and doesn’t give up. I really like Leona because I see these traits in me as I visualize Leona. Leona is confident because in the book, Leona has the confidence to call anywhere that will clean up trash and she is confident enough to go in person to talk to someone about cleaning up trash in her community. Leona is good at getting things done and finishing what she starts. I think this because Leona saw some trash where people were trying to plant seeds and make a little garden; So, she calls many places that can clean up trash and nothing happens. Then, she goes in person to some place that can clean up trash and makes sure the trash gets cleaned up. Lastly, Leona will not give up and is stubborn in a good way. She is stubborn because she was said to wait and she knew she would be waiting for a long time, so Leona opens a bag of trash she brought to show the person she would be talking to. The smell was so bad so the person that was going to talk to her didn’t make her wait any longer. Leona saw a problem and fixed it. The trash finally did get cleaned up because of her. I can see some of her traits resemble in me.
