My favorite character is Kim. The reason why I chose her is because I think that she is very resourceful, and she started the whole garden. I think the fact that she started the whole garden is very important because each character chapter has to do with it. Without her, there would not be as interesting a story with all the other characters, which is completely my own opinion. I also think that it is amazing that she is the youngest character in this book, yet she decided to start a garden in a vacant lot filled with junk, and she started the whole story in a way. I also love how she decided to plant the garden in her father’s memory. I think that really shows how much she loves him, even if she was only a small baby when he died. A way I can connect to Kim is that I have my own garden at home. I did not have a special meaning to start the garden, but I still love it.

In this Story Seedfolks, My favorite character is Leona. Leona is the Character that I am most found of because she is determined, helpful and humorous. She is Determined because she feel like it is her obligation to clean up the lot to make not such an eye sore. Leona is humorous because she makes hilarious Idioms like ” It smelled as bad hog pens and maggots” and ” the smell was so bad it could curl up a crocodiles nose especially on a summer day. Finally Leona is helpful because she wants to clean the lot up to make it gorgeous and get rid of the reeking smell. I can connect to Leona because I want to make people smile and improve my town for the better.

Leona is head strong and determined. When she wants something she will do anything to get it. I love how she has sweet funny and memories of her grandmother. In Leona’s chapter she wants that lot to be clean and fresh so people can start a community garden. She knows she has to be real. She makes phone calls waits on hold and listens to automatic messages to get her task done. She thinks on the positive side and will cheerfully walk right into any problem she faces and works right past it. She seems like the person that would be kind, determined, and focused on what she wants. She is a go-and-get-it kind of person.

Wendell is by far the best character in Seedfolks by PaulFleischman. I think that Wendell is my favorite character because he is very courageous and kind. He lost his little boy to a gun shot and his wife to a deadly car wreck and yet he still keeps moving on. Wendell doesn’t stress on the past and he keeps moving forward, step by step, day by day with a confidence that could only have come from somebody with an extremely strong soul. He understands when it is time to let go and let things be, go with the flow. Sometimes giving up doesn’t mean you are weak, sometimes it means you are strong enough to let go and Wendell understands this because he has had to go through things like that too many times before. Also he is very kind because he takes care of Ana when she cannot help herself. It says in the book that he watches out for her a little and does things for her that she cannot do, like dig a garden. I admire Wendell very much for these reasons, he is a very pleasant character.

The Character that I admire and like the most is Tio Juan. He is the best character in the book. In the book Seedfolks, he is very sad and not understood because all he knows is farming and he doesn’t know how to speak English. I can relate to that. When I am trying to do something that makes logical sense and the person who works with me glue guns my arm, I feel misunderstood. On that day I felt sad because I had a burn. It is not for the same reasons but I still felt that way. Even though life was tough he still didn’t give up on life. He always knew that one day he would be able to do something meaningful in life. And he knows so much about gardening! He planted all the seeds in his bag with a lot of effort but he was enjoying himself. When I am helping plant plants, I don’t have a lot of fun doing it. Tio Juan has the most perseverance and courage in the book Seedfolks.

Sam is my favorite character for multiple reasons. Sam strives for world peace, and I also strive for world peace. I admire Sam’s confidence and braveness to make Cleveland, Ohio a better place. Sam’s lifelong goal is to patch up the holes in the whole world, starting with Cleveland. I completely agree with this goal in every way. Sam is helping to make Cleveland a more peaceful place. Sam’s hobby is broadening his vocabulary. I also enjoy learning new words. Sam is kind and friendly to everyone, and I thank that he is an amazing character in this book.

In the book Seedfolks, I think I can relate to the character Sam. First of all, I am white and a proud Jew too. Second, I don’t care what religion or color my friends are as long as they are kind. For example, at my old school I had friends who are Jewish, Christian, and German from her father’s side of the family. I am also friends with people of all different skin types. I admire him because he is very outgoing and not shy when meeting new people. I can pretty easily meet new people but usually I am very shy when doing it. Sometimes I get to shy and don’t say anything, but that rarely happens. Also people are kind back and whenever they are, I feel like I am spreading the peace. I also think it is pretty cool to have a garden where you can grow your own food, and when you eat that food, somehow it tastes five times better than a store’s. overall, I really admire Sam, and I think I can relate to him.

In the book Seedfolks one of my favorite characters is Kim. Her father died eight months before she was born a Vietnamese farmer. She moved to Cleveland with her mother and big sister. When she was nine years old she planted some lima beans in hope of showing her dead father’s spirt that she was his daughter. People noticed her planting and watering the plants in the vacant, trashy lot and started to do the same. She indirectly started a community garden that brought people closer. Soon the garden was big enough to be a small farm, with people growing lettuce, goldenrod, tomatoes, and flowers. I also imagine how hard it must be for her every year when her family greave the father she never knew.

The character I chose as my favorite is Leona. She is brave and is very determined get her way. Leona knows that she has to do the right thing, and speak to the government. Leona is so bold, she marched right up with a bag of trash in her hand to the Public Health Department. She wants the garden to be a beautiful place. Leona knows that so something had to be done for the garden. She’s also going to plant some goldenrod in that small garden. Leona is a brave and determined character and that’s why she is my favorite.

My favorite character in this book so far is Sam. I mean, what´s not to like? He tends to be friendly to everyone he meets, and, as he said himself, he is carefully mending the rips and tears of a broken neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio little by little. And that’s only what he has done in his retirement. Before he retired, he worked in the field of pacifism, so he appears to have always seen the good in people. Unfortunately, I can’t relate to Sam in many ways, I just admire his genuine nature. However, he also appeals to me because he loves word and figuring out there meaning, and although I simply like saying complex words and using them, I still feel as if I can relate to this remarkable man. As you can probably tell by now, I am not much like Sam, but that he will always be my favorite, and that I truly admire him.

My favorite character in the book Seed Folks is Sam. Sam is a man who tries to change or accomplish something to make the world a better place. He studies words and uses them in such a great way it makes me laugh. He is very smart and observant and easily sees if something is wrong. During the book he plants some seeds of his own Then later realizes the blacks, whites, and immigrants are separating their gardens from one another and keeping out others. He will try to solve this problem just like I would do. I think we relate in a few ways because even though he doesn’t farm he still picked a spot because he thought it would help the city change a little and I would do anything to help that city. Also he is smart and observant and I like to say I am too. He also spreads happiness around the place and I like that about him because if we didn’t have happiness we would be miserable. Also I love to help and spread happiness.

My favorite character is Sam. He is my favorite character for a few reasons. I like Sam because he is friendly, observant and determined. I also like Sam because he tries to make others happy. “Sewing up the rips in the neighborhood” he likes to call it. And sometimes, that’s is just a smile or a short conversation. I can relate to Sam because we are both outgoing people.

My favorite character in Seedfolks was Sam because he was a calm, peaceful guy. He was very observant and tried very hard to patch up the cracks in the Cleveland communities. He also liked to garden and hired a Puerto Rican teenager to do so in the empty lot. He would talk to everyone with a big smile trying to help them the best he could. He would get people talking to him instead of looking down at their shoes. He would get all the different people talking to each other, sewing up the rips in the neighborhood.

Sam is a great guy, he always wants to help everyone out. He tries to talk to people and get them smiling and talking to each other. He worked for 36 years trying to make the world a better place. Even after he retired he still worked on getting people together in his little part of Cleveland. I admire this and think he is very hardworking for doing his job for that long. He is a very nice man, he smiles and people and tries to make their day better. Some people don’t appreciate what he does so it may not end up so well for him. In any case though, Sam is very hardworking, nice and brave.

Who is my favorite character is the seed folks book? Well my favorite is Kim, this is because of her courage, determination and how hard she worked on the little farm that she made. The 1 thing that makes us the most alike is that we both have determination with almost everything that we do. No matter how many people tell her that her farm will not work out she will keep on doing, just to try and impress her dead father.  Like be because when I have the chance I will try to impress him.

My favorite character in the book Seedfolks is Sam. He is always determined to help other people, and help his neighborhood. He is observing a lot of things, he realized that the garden is turning back to Cleveland. He notices that people are talking to each other, thanks to him. He is very kind to everyone and gets people talking to each other. He tries to make people from other countries feel more welcome in Cleveland. Through the years that he has worked to make the world a better place he has been so nice to everyone.

My favorite character is Sam. I like Sam because he tries to solve problems in the world and make different races get along with each other. He seems to have a lot of care for people and wants to make them happy. Sam is all about doing right and not wrong. He encourages other people to do right also. I can relate to Sam because Sam and I both like to make people happy no matter what they look like. We both like to do good and we both are trying to make the world a better place. Sam seems very much like me and I like his caring personality.

My favorite character is Kim because she is widely confident in her ideas and she goes through with them. Instead of only thinking about planting she actually goes out there and starts something big that is important to her. Instead of dwelling over her sadness she tries to make herself feel better about it. She is also very strong and confident and bold and she really goes through with what she wants. If someone pushes her down she will fight to stand back up. Kim also accepts tragedy and makes the best of her loss. She is also the first one to start the garden which shows her bravery and confidence.

Leona in my opinion is a very unique character amongst the others. Leona was bold, she brought a bag of smelly trash into the Health Institute to convince them to clean up the lot. Leona even opened the bag in the lobby and let the smell go through the room to gain herself more attention and convince others that the trash was a big problem that needed to be resolved soon. Leona was stubborn while making the calls and she wouldn’t give up however many times she was told to wait or call someone else. Leona was confident with the calls and called many people. Even after being told to call someone else several times she did it and did not complain or give up. Leona didn’t even give up when she realized that she would have to show up in person at the Health Institute. Soon after she had gotten many people to listen and seemed quite accomplished. When I was in second grade My drawing won a first place blue ribbon and I also felt quite accomplished, like Leona after opening the trash bag.

Ana is my favorite character because she is very brave and she looks out for her community. She watches out for anything suspicious and calls the police about it. She is also helpful because she helped Kim with the lima beans. Later someone came along and dug up some of those plants. The police came and arrested him for doing that. She also looks out her window and can see lake Erie from it.

My favorite character so far is Kim. She is the first character I met and I think she is amazing. Kim is definitely a trend setter. Everybody so far copies her and plants seeds in the vacant lot even though everybody does a different part. She is very nice and tries to prove something to her father that passed away by planting seeds in the garden since he was a farmer. She is a very brave girl and I applaud her for that. She is a lot like me by trying to start something. I always try to start something good when I can get the opportunity.

My favorite character is Ana. What I really like about her is that she is very observant. She sits in her window seal and just watches her town change and grow. Another reason I like Ana is that she knows the history about her town and can be very helpful because she has been there for a while. I can relate to my character because I have been in my town for almost my whole life and I know how life has changed and the diversity has changed as well, just like her.

My favorite character is Gonzales. I think that he has made the biggest change throughout the book. When he takes care of Tio Juan, he realizes that Tio Juan is not just a crazy man in a straw hat, that he is a strong farmer. I also like the fact that he had to go through a lot of change when he came from Guatemala to the USA. This means that he is capable of adapting to new things. I have to adapt to new things when I went from 5th grade to 6th grade. Although this is not nearly as hard to go from Guatemala to a whole new country, it is still a change. Gonzales helps Tio Juan make his garden and doesn’t care that Tio Juan is sometimes a little confused. When Tio Juan is acting like a man, Gonzales respects him. When Tio Juan is not acting like one, then he stays distant. My opinion is that Gonzales is a little scared of Tio Juan.

Leona is my favorite character because she works for what she believes in. Leona is happy with her life, and likes to help improve other peoples life. She is bold because she takes risks by not only going to the health department she takes a bag full of trash there too. Leona speaks her mind and she doesn’t stop till she proves her point. I can relate to Leona because when she wants to accomplish something, she does. I want to be able to speak my mind and find peaceful ways to prove my point.

My personal favorite character in seedfolks is Sam. He is a pacifist and believes that he can separate the differences within everyone and make them friendly. He is also a bold figure and will say anything that he wants if he thinks it can make a change. He doesn’t sit back and wait for things to happen he is the one that makes them happen. Sam is fair in how he hires people. He doesn’t necessarily just hire whites. He hires anyone who can get the job done and if a person is in a bad situation he helps them. I can connect to what Sam does because I am typically not a person that sits back and watches. I am the sort of person that goes out of their way to make the world a better place.

My favorite character in Seedfolks is Ana because of how independent and willing to take action she is but how she is also willing to ask for help. Ana is great at making observations and I can relate to that. I, like Ana, love to make observations about others and about the world. Ana was very creative with some of her thought plans and I truly admire someone who thinks out of the box. I think Ana is an amazing character because she is so observant and that can get a person a long way. She is smart with her decisions and I admire that she went to go see what Kim was burying (planting).

From the book Seedfolks I chose a character named Leona because she is wise and she knew what to do when the health department wouldn’t talk to her. Like me she is stubborn in a way that is good which means she never gives up. The other thing I admire about her is that she stands up for what she believes in. her story is when she sees a vacant lot that is half garden and half dump she tries to call as many people as possible to get to clean that place up she decides to go up to them with a trash bag which as she quoted “the smell made you think of hog pens and maggots and kitchen scraps from when Nixon was president” I really recommend reading this book.

Ana

The reason I chose Ana is because she cares about others and is an inspirational woman. Even though she watches people out of her window- with binoculars. She cares for he little Chinese girl named Kim. When she thinks that Kim is burring drugs or a weapon, she goes to Kim’s garden. All that she sees is seeds. She knows that she has done damage to 2 of the 6 seeds. When she sends Virgil down to care for what is left of Kim’s garden. She inspires the town to make a garden.

Sam seems to be the nicest person in the Seedfolks book. He is looking at everything, from the size of the gardens to the room number somebody looks out from. He is a good character in this book because his goal is to try to make things better in the world. In this case, he is trying to make the vacant lot a better place by trying to get the trash out of it. If everyone is happy, Sam is happy. Sam is my favorite character in Seedfolks.
