TCP part 3

I want to be a lawyer. Lawyers act like advocates and advisors. Lawyers are like advocates because they represent people in court. They’re also like advisors because lawyers talk to people about their legal rights and tells them the best thing they can do in their situation. Lawyers can do many different things. I want to be a family lawyer. That’s someone who deals with divorce, child custody, adoption proceedings, and other things regarding the family.

To become a lawyer I needed to have 7 years of college. I needed 4 years of undergrad and then 3 years of law school. You’ll need a J. D. degree from a law school that’s been credited from the American Bar Association. They’re the ones that say that law schools meets certain standards. You need to have a bachelor degree to get into most schools. You also need to be good at public speaking, English, government, history, economics, and mathematic. Most of those I liked but doing government, history, and economics was a little harder for me.

It didn’t hurt to do some school sponsored legal clinics and a practice trial. Some skills I needed were helping solve problems, building relationships with clients, problem solving, speaking, and writing skills. When I first got hired I worked with experienced lawyers, than after a couple of years I got hired to a partnership. Even with that training my first employment was only $54,310. Employment is going to grow about 10 which is the average. The costs of clients are going to reduce. It’s going to be tough to compete since there are more and more lawyers but I knew I could do it.

A Snip of my Culture- Verse

In my church you need to be a youth to get baptized. That means you need to be in middle school, high school, or older. You also have to take classes and it’s a big responsibility. I love my church which is why my third cultural universal is religion and shared belief. I’m a Baptist and I go to Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. I care about my religion very much. I hold God very close to my heart and always try my best to think about Him and use Him in m daily life. I was introduced to church at a very young age since my parents and extended family are either Baptist or some other form of Christianity. I personally think that people descend to heaven, but I try not to question that too much. I love my church so I’m going to be baptized there at about 14.

TCP Career Research

When I grow up, I want to be a physicist. To become one, you need a PhD in physics or a related field. Physicists try to figure out the origins of the world using their knowledge of physics. They do complex mathematical calculations to analyze physical and astronomical data like data that could indicate the existence of planets in distant solar systems. Physicists also develop new scientific equipment such as lasers and telescopes. They develop computer software to analyze and model data. They plan and conduct scientific experiments and studies to test theories and discover properties of matter and energy. They make theories and models that attempt to explain the properties of the natural world like atom formation and the force of gravity. They write scientific papers that may be published in scholarly journals and present research findings at conferences and lectures. Physicists use small or medium sized laboratories but some areas require hi-tech expensive equipment like nuclear reactors and particle accelerators.

Physics PhD students need to take courses in calculus, linear algebra, and statistics. Computer science classes are also needed because physicists and astronomers create programs to gather, analyze, and model data. If you seek a full-time researching job, you must begin at a temporary postdoctoral stage which lasts 2- 3 years. You work with experience scientists and continue to learn their specialties and get a broader understanding of related research areas. Your beginning work may be closely watched by senior scientists but as they get more experience, you get more complex and independent tasks. Physicists may spend a lot of time experimenting in labs but they also spend their time in offices, planning, analyzing, fundraising, and reporting on research.

NASA and the US department of Defense are two of the biggest employers of physicists and astronomers. The median annual pay is $106,840. The top 10% get at least $176,630 per year and the lowest 10% get less than $57,640 per year. The employment of physicists is expected to grow about 10%. As our knowledge grows, there will be a continual need for physicists and astronomers, especially in colleges, universities, and national laboratories.

Career- Microbiologist

I would like to become a Microbiologist, because I would like to study about viruses, fungi, bacteria, algae, and different types of microorganisms. The life of the species are very unique, because I learned that some of them lived millions of years before mankind, animals, and plants. For example, there is a type of microorganism called Extremophiles which can survive in hot, salty and even acidic or gaseous environments. Overall, this type of job is something I would love to explore in the future, because we can use these species to obtain natural products at lower cost for humankind.

A microbiologist requires special training and education; they can work in different places with a good salary. You need to have a bachelor’s degree and usually a Ph.D. A microbiologist usually work in colleges, universities, professional schools, for the government, in hospitals, in laboratories, industries, etc. The annual wage for these scientists depends in what institution you work in. For instance, the federal government usually provides the best salary and benefits. Even though there are other fascinating careers, I feel like a microbiologist is my DESTINY.

A Snip of my Culture Verse

Without Communication, I won’t be able to express myself. I had a difficult situation about this topic in my life. When I was young, I couldn’t pronounce the “r’s,” the “l’s,” and the “th’s.” People couldn’t understand me and made fun of me. My mom and I went to places for speech therapy, but I didn’t get better. In my school, I had a poetry contest. At first, it was frustrating and I was crying when I couldn’t pronounce the words correctly. Then, my mom told me to repeat the verse Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” With my family’s help and God’s help, I was able to speak properly and I placed first overall in my school! This cultural universal is significant is significant in my life, because it has changed the way I am now.

Time Capsule Career

Electrical Engineering is very important. In this career you would develop new electrical products. You would also test them and if they make it into the market, supervise the construction. Some of the kinds of things you could build are motors, radars, power generators and transportation equipment. They create things based on people’s needs and wants. They have invented things like the computer, television, and almost any electric device you own.

There are a few different things needed for this career. In high school it would be useful to study math and physics such as algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Studying drafting could also be helpful. A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is needed. The pay is pretty good to. The average salary per year is $87,920 while the lowest ten percent is about $58,470. The Expectations aren’t very high though. The vocation is expected to grow by only 4% from 2012 to 2022. This statistic could be change though, depending on the needs of businesses.

My Career as a Veterinarian

The career that I plan to pursue in the future is a veterinarian.  A veterinarian is just like a doctor for animals.  I plan to receive a bachelor of science in biology.  Following my bachelor degree, I will complete a doctorate in veterinary medicine.  I have been interested in this career since I was young.  I think that this career would suit me perfectly because I care lovingly for animals.  I am committed to animals, and have a good work ethic.  This job is mentally challenging, and I am up for the challenge!  I have some experience caring for animals because I have six of my own pets!

There are 29 colleges with accredited veterinary programs in the United States.  To become a veterinarian you must complete a doctorate of veterinary medicine.  This normally takes four years to complete, though it depends on the person.  After completing school, I need to pass the licensure exam which is called the NAVLE.  The outlook for this career is 12% which is as fast as the average career outlook.  About one out of three veterinarians work more than 50 hours a week.  The median salary is $84,460 a year, and the lowest ten percent earned less than $51,530.  The number of jobs in the United States in 2012 was 70,300.  These are just a few of the many benefits of being a veterinarian.

A Snip of My Culture-Verse

By: Alex Dietrich

In 2016 the Presidential election will change my life. I will be 12.83 years old so I won’t be able to vote. The Different presidents could do many different things so I don’t know who will be elected or what they’ll do. It will greatly change the government as the new president well have different opinions than the last one. Many laws could be added or changed for good or for bad. Our rights could be taken away or they could be added. Hopefully the president won’t have terrible diplomacy so he won’t make all the other countries mad. But hey, you never know what could happen.

A Snip of My Culture-Verse

The universal Arts and Recreation connects to the Camp Hanes trip. Camp Hanes wasn’t my first overnight school trip but it was the first one without my parents. Camp Hanes was connected to Arts and Recreation because it was all fun. It wasn’t related to any subject, no worksheets to fill out, and it was all fun. I was nervous because it was my first trip but there was nearly no reason to be worried. It wasn’t exactly leisure time because it was during what was supposed to be a school day but it was full of sports and games. I went zip lining for the first time and Camp Hanes was an overall good experience.

A Snip of my Culture-Verse

When I was 3.76 years old, I was given my first toy cash register for Christmas.  When I received this gift, I played with it every single day.  This cash register taught me about an important cultural universal, economics.  The cash register came with fake coins and dollar bills.  This fake currency allowed me to experiment with different ways to use currency, and how much different items were worth.  I loved calculating different amounts of money using the calculator on the cash register.  Currency is used to get items that we need.  This monetary system is used every day, and is more efficient than trading and bartering.  It eliminates “having to make a deal”.  Currency is used all throughout the United States of America.  All of the people in the United States of America use the same currency.  This is important because when someone travels to a different state they do not need to exchange currency.  This small toy cash register had a large impact on my knowledge on currency.

My Career as a Cosmologist

I would like to be a Cosmologist (though I may end up in another field of astrophysics), and it is possible that I will take that knowledge and become a professor at a University. Cosmologists study the entire universe and its history, as well as creation and evolution. They may come up with ideas on the universe like dark energy theories and then support it with scientific data and do experiments on it. Cosmologists may have to do complex mathematical equations to help support the data that they find and then present their findings at scientific conferences or lectures. To publish proven ideas, Cosmologists may write scientific papers that are published in Science Journals.

The job outlook for a Cosmologists is growing at a pretty average rate, of about 10%. A Cosmologist pays a median of $106,360 per year, though the lowest 10% earns only $57,640. The required college background is a doctoral or professional degree, and it is also necessary to have a strong background in physics. Ph.D. students will also need to take courses in mathematics, such as calculus, linear algebra, and statistics. Computer science classes may also be necessary to become a Cosmologist. Most Cosmologists work full time so it is natural to assume that most are men, but I still wish to be a Cosmologist and study dark energy for a living.

A Snip of my Culture-verse

When I was about four to five years old, I first started playing the violin, and although I play the viola now, I still am impacted by it, as I played the violin for about 6 years. Because the violin (and viola) are an art or a skill, it would fall under the category of Arts and Recreation. I have truly enjoyed playing the viola and believe Arts and Recreation is a very important Cultural Universal. It is also my favorite! Go Arts and Recreation!!
