Community and friendship

Commuinty and friendship- Charger trails

Today, I took part in charger trails challenges. My team, and I worked together successfully to complete challenges during enrichment, as a group. There were 3 different challenges, the hog call, the marble challenge, and the maze. For each of these, we had to work together as a team, and all had to communicate, and show respect towards one another. I was successful as a team member by helping my teammates, as well as helping with the activity, and doing my part to lead to success. I also allowed my other team mates to lead, and help me and the team as a whole towards victory. During the maze challenge, I held back in the beginning to let my teammates go before me, to give me less chances to make a mistake, if I understood better. I was the final person to go through the maze, and my team was supportive of me, guiding me along the way, and helping me do the right thing. By working together, and hearing all ideas, my team worked very well together.

I worked as a friend with my team, by not blaming anyone for anything that was not a big deal. For example, during the marble challenge, I think just about all of my teammates, including me dropped the marble at one point. Sure, we might have been disappointed, but we got back up, and tried again. We were positive towards one another, and we were not rude or angry when there was a mistake made. We did not complete this challenge, but for us our hard work, and positive attitude was enough.

In the end, we worked together greatly, and it was a great team building activity, to learn more about cooperating with one another, and had lots of fun too!

Main idea: Children’s lives

  • Many children died at a very young age, therefore they were not considered a member of the community until they hit puberty.
  • Children who did not attend school played a variety of games explained in more detail in the “life at home section.”

  • Main idea: Marriage, and Divorce
  • Marriage existed when a man and a woman moved in together in a new home.
  • No special event, or ceremony for marriage.

Seedfolks- my favorite character

Leona-

Leona is my favorite character so far, in the book the seedfolks. I admire Leona because she is very determined. Once she has decided she wants to clear out the trashy lot, there is no stopping her, and she will get the job done. She will not give up her mission to clear the lot without a fight! Leona is headstrong, and is confident in her beliefs. I can relate to Leona because, when I am determined to do something, then I will do almost whatever it takes to work up to that goal, and do it!
