My Violin Career

For my career, I would like to be a solo violinist. I want to be one of the most famous violinists in the world. I will travel around the globe performing with orchestras and symphonies; playing concertos, and performing solo Bach. I will play with the Big 5 orchestras (they are considered the best orchestras in the world), and will make my debut at Carnegie Hall! While I am traveling, I might even give some masterclasses to young musicians with big hopes of being great musicians. I would like to be widely known around the world! How much time I spend on the road depends on when and where I travel. I could be on the road for months if I am performing multiple concerts in Europe; tour lengths vary. Of course on occasion, I could also be on the road for only 5 hours, if I perform close to home.

There is no degree requirement for being a violin soloist. A successful career depends on how well you play and if you are fortunate enough to get great opportunities. Being successful requires tons of practice.

All soloists get different fees for performing. If you are one of the best performers in the world, you might receive $20,000-$100,000 per concert. Others might get paid $3,000-$15,000 for playing with an orchestra. Until you get much farther in your career, you need to perform many concerts. A career in music is predicted to grow slower than other careers between the years of 2015 and 2022.
