The Campitor: Wrapped

By McKay Lucas ’21

About a week ago, Claire and I were walking out of Ms. Maloy’s environmental science classroom on an unusually warm December day. After we had finished excitedly congratulating ourselves on our recent issue, Claire casually said, “so we’ll get the next edition in by this upcoming week, right?” I laughed at my co-editor’s good sense of humor.

And then, I looked over to realize that her half-masked expression revealed not sarcasm, but determination. Oh wow, we were really doing this. I tried to cover up my skepticism, but secretly was not sure how our staff would ever manage to write, edit, design, and publish an issue within a week.

I’m not sure how I could ever doubt our staff. They’ve already demonstrated that they will consistently put in the effort to get articles done. They show up to biweekly meetings at 8:30 am without fail, despite the fact that we haven’t been able to offer a food incentive for attendance.

Furthermore, I’m not sure why I would ever consider doubting Claire. She and Ms. Buie are the reasons that we have managed to publish three issues in just six school months (and a summer issue!), when usually two issues are published during the entire school year.

The stats speak for themselves.
