Thursday morning was all about the S’s – fresh strawberries, scones, shortcakes, and more. After picking up some fresh strawberries from DJ’s berry patch on Wednesday morning, we decided to incorporate those into Thursday morning’s strawberry-inspired baked goods. The first group decided to make lemon-strawberry blondies. They were fantastic – not too sweet, but just sweet enough to counter the acidity and tartness of the lemon. The second group made a delicious strawberry shortcake. The shortcake was sweet, moist, and beautiful stacked and iced. The third, and best group (I swear I’m not biased) made strawberry scones stuffed with homemade strawberry jam and cream topped with sugar-coated strawberries, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a lemon sugar glaze. The semi-sweet scones were deliciously paired with an ultra-sweet jam and a light cream. The sugar-coated and the chocolate-covered strawberries were added on top for texture. All in all, Thursday morning was a delicious day filled with amazing strawberry-inspired dishes.
