Our first day of Discovery Term started off with an introduction to the course, eliciting suggestions and thoughts from our students. We jumped right into the basics of fitness, and we discussed the 5 components of physical fitness. After covering the basics of fitness, we had a great workout in the afternoon with Coach Huxford.

On day 2, we dove into more detail, specifically focusing on nutrition. We started off with a Crash Course Video on Nutrition basics, and then we allowed students to do some research on the 6 essential nutrients: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, water, minerals, and vitamins. We also watched a Ted Talk on the effects of nutrition on mental health. We finished off with a workout with Coach Huxford again. We are all stoked for our field trip tomorrow to put our knowledge of nutrition to the test!
