Day 0 – Prework

During the next 2 weeks, I will be working with Dr. Natalia Summerville from SAS on a Data4Good project which seeks to use data analytics in a way to help society instead of solely for profit. The project I will be helping seeks to aid in optimizing the maternal milk donation process. My prework was to look over 4 different donor forms and manually type out all the information into an excel sheet. Then, I had to research some free-online pdf to excel converters to see if I can streemline this process.

Laber Labs: First Post!

Starting next Wednesday, I will be working with Dr. Eric Laber of Duke University at Laber Labs! Laber Labs is a statistics lab that utilizes mathematics to develop tools that analyze data and apply these models to solve real-world problems. I am looking forward to working with Dr. Laber and my peers and learning more about data analysis and statistics through this extraordinary opportunity.

Looking Forward to the WEP

I’m super excited to spend the next two weeks at Reedy Creek Elementary School. I will be working with the ESL program, the reading specialist, and a kindergarten class. I hope to gain some insight from the teacher perspective in a public school after spending my elementary school years in a public school. I have worked with the ESL program before as a tutor after school, but it will be interesting to see what goes on during the day.

First Post – Testing Out How the Blog Works

Dr. Mc told us to write a first post so here it is. Stuff I need to remember includes:

Tag the post with the option that autofills after typing Tyler, and also tag it with the day number (let it autofill by typing day). Also tag it with anything else that identifies the post.

Also tell a story with these posts. “Something cool happened today and here it is”. This is a daily requirement and it must be completed every day or I won’t get credit for it.

I should also put pictures here as well. Even video!! (Check NDA)

I am also allowed to post multiple times a day if cool stuff happens all day!
