Dear Reader,
Welcome to the second issue of The Campitor for the 2020-2021 school year! We hope that our publication keeps you connected to the Cary Academy community, whether you are able to visit campus in-person or are all-virtual.
As we begin this Thanksgiving break, we want to emphasize how thankful we are for the contributions from our staff and, of course, our faculty advisor, Ms. Buie. Though it may not be what we are used to, we love meeting virtually with you all and witnessing your creativity in action; whether you are passionate about student artwork, the video game industry, or want to share your experience in a new class, we’re so grateful for your dedication to this publication. And to Ms. Buie: thank you for being flexible, for having a sharp eye for grammar errors, and for supporting us no matter what.
Our fantastic writing staff for this issue is comprised of: Lily Bastin (’23), Bela Chandler (’23), Isabel Chang (’24), Emma Esposito (’23), Ella Gupta (’23), Abby Smetana (’23), and Brooke Wu (’23). Additionally, thank you to the many faculty and students who have provided us with the information and images needed to put together this edition.
Though this time may be difficult for all of us – with rising COVID cases nationwide, a historic election, and a new school world defined by cohorts – we hope that every member of the CA community can commit to an optimistic mindset centered around unity and understanding. In the meantime, The Campitor will continue to provide a sense of connection and unity through CA-centered stories and topics inspired by student passions.
We hope you enjoy this issue, and stay safe during this upcoming break!
Sincerely,
Claire Ferris and McKay Lucas
