Today started off bright and early with a trip to the North Carolina General Assembly in downtown Raleigh. There, we learned about the different types of meetings that go on with the House of Representatives and in the Senate. At 9:30, we went to go watch a Senate session, but they must’ve met very briefly and very quickly because a sign stated they were in recess until 4:00 PM. Bummer! At 10:00, we went downstairs to meet with Representative Grier Martin to learn about what his job entails. He described to us what he loves about his job, the difficulties, how he got there, and so much more. Rep. Martin even gave us an insight on his views on recent pieces of legislature that have been passed or are in the process of being passed. His story was so interesting, and really inspired us all.
