Drive Shack X-Day

We started the morning at drive shack working on our golf swings. We explored the different clubs and experimented with how we could use different clubs for different types of shots. It was a ton of fun and I will definitely be going back. In the afternoon we watched the Full Swing documentary on Netflix and explored how the pro golfers prepare for competition and the mental health side of professional golf

Senior Golf X day

We started our day at drive shack where we played for 2 hours improving our swings and golfing abilities with figuring out how hard to swing and what clubs to use.

For the second half of the day we watched the Full Swing documentary on Netflix. The documentary gave us insight into the pressure professionals play with and just how good they really are compared to the average golfers.

Renee Z-Portfolio Development

For my AP portfolio line of questioning I’m exploring the dark side of fairytales and it’s implications about society. For this particular piece, I wanted to twist the fairytale of “Diamonds and Toads” and pose the question: What would happen if the ugly were gifted with material beauty? Who would society favor then? I felt stuck with this piece because it felt like I had been working endlessly on it but it was going nowhere. I decided to take a step back and work through the piece in my sketchbook, utilizing this X-day to apply the changes that came out of my reflection. With some peer feedback, I edited my piece and I ended up being happy with the result.

Pi Me to the Moon

Jacob writes: “I recently got a mini computer called a Raspberry Pi, with an included program called SmartSim (SS). SS is a program designed by a MIT student in order to help people understand and design circuits. No tutorial came with it, so I need to learn how to design circuits. My hope is to research everything I can about circuitry, program a tutorial for SS, and try to get that tutorial added to SS to make it more accessible.”
