It was a joy to test pH on Jordan Lake. I learned so much about the health of Jordan Lake and how pH affects its wildlife.

Kayaking At Jordan Lake
It was an awesome experience kayaking at Jordan Lake. We paddled underneath bridges and to beaches to test pH and observe wildlife.
Jordan Lake Reflection
Overall, I had a really fun time today. It was really amazing to be out on the water, and get to see the natural beauty of North Carolina. I also liked getting to apply my knowledge of things like solution chemistry in the real world. Based on our pH reading and the volume of Jordan Lake, there are around 4.011 * 10^27 molecules of hydronium in the lake. So overall, this was a really great learning experience!
After testing the Ph of the water we went and rented kayaks to go enjoy nature and go around the lake. We even stopped a small beach and explored the land.
Testing Ph Levels
When we got to the boating center we were able to go to a small beach area to test the lakes water. It was an educational experience getting to actually test the water many people kayak, drive boats and fish in
Reflection
Overall, we had a great time surrounding ourselves with nature and learning more about the necessary conditions for life with our pH testing. I’m looking forward to doing something similar during the next x-day!
Testing pH
Once we got to Jordan lake, we tested the pH of the water and found it to be around 7.6, slightly basic but still within a healthy range for wildlife. Then we started kayaking and observed the nature and wildlife surrounding us.
Kayaking
After conducting our tests, we went kayaking onto the lake. We kayaked for a while before stopping at a sandbar across the lake. At the sandbar, we saw several types of animal tracks and later identified each of the animals. We explored around the island for a bit before heading back.
Testing Lake Jordan’s pH Level
When we arrived at Jordan Lake, we took samples of the lake’s water and ran several types of experiments to test for the water’s pH level and different types of compounds. In our trials, we included water from different areas from the lake to see how different substances alter the results of our tests.
Testing Water Quality
Building on the kayaking experence, we wanted to look into the Lake Jordan ecosystem through testing the water. We tested the water’s pH and found it to be around 7.6-7.8. Since the ideal pH for wildlife is between 6.5-8.0, the water was on the slightly basic end of the scale, but still within the range. This means that this lake ecosystem was healthy, which was seen by all of the wildlife surrounding the lake.
