In the middle of the day, we took a trip to the Thrift Store in North Raleigh to try and find hidden gems that we could give a new life in our everyday wardrobe. It was very interesting to see everything that ends up in a thrift store and I was surprised to see how many items were still in new and well-kept condition. Additionally, there was an interesting section consisting of out-of-date technology that was actually very interesting with old monitors and other electronics that I could easily see me finding use from. My favorite item that I ended up purchasing was a pair of vintage NC State suspenders and while they might not be in my daily wear, I will definitely be wearing them to some football games in the near future!

Pumpkin Purée
Although I’ve made pumpkin bread many times before, this was by far the most interesting of them all. Instead of using store-bought pumpkin Purée, we decided to try and make our own from raw pumpkins and I quickly realized how little I actually knew about the work that goes into making something seemingly so simple. Despite the simplistic nature of cooking pumpkin bread, the process of slicing, preparing, roasting, and blending pumpkins just to get one of the ingredients to the overall dish was both fun and challenging.
Campaigning Through the Escape Room
We started off the day learning more about both ourselves and each other through experimenting with personality tests. I found that having, not only agree/disagree/neither options but also intermediate choices made me think a lot deeper about each question and it actually served as a really good way to reflect on myself. At the end of the test, I was really surprised by how accurate the results were; I ended up getting the ‘Assertive Campainger’ personality with the diplomat role and people mastery as my strategy and the strengths/weaknesses were shockingly close to that of my own. In the latter half of the day, the group completed an escape room at Tower Escapes, and having just taken the personality quiz, I found myself acutely aware of how our different personalities meshed together to help us find our way out of the room as a group.
