Today we spent part of our day driving electric go karts. We also spent some time discussing the advantages and disadvantages of electric cars compared to gas cars. We discussed the environmental benefits of electric vehicles but also the problems caused by unethical lithium mining.

Watching Free Solo
After climbing we watched Free Solo and reflected about how Alex Honnold’s experences could be applied to our lives. The idea of working towards a goal and accomplishing it is something that we can all apply in the things we do.

Rock Climbing
I have not been rocking climbing in a very long time, so this was a fun experence climbing again. It was fun to experiment with different techniques and push myself while climbing.
Testing Water Quality
Building on the kayaking experence, we wanted to look into the Lake Jordan ecosystem through testing the water. We tested the water’s pH and found it to be around 7.6-7.8. Since the ideal pH for wildlife is between 6.5-8.0, the water was on the slightly basic end of the scale, but still within the range. This means that this lake ecosystem was healthy, which was seen by all of the wildlife surrounding the lake.
Kayaking On Lake Jordan
This morning we kayaked on Lake Jordan, observing the value of having designated spaces for people to interact with nature. Although it was chilly, there were few boats on the lake which was nice. We were also able to see the lake ecosystem as we kayaked and saw animal tracks such as deer along the shoreline.
