Day 7 (5.29.16): Our First Sunday

I woke up to the sound of laughter, Michelle’s that is! We had just finished a sleepover at Vicky’s house (which looks like it jumped out of an HGTV magazine with its modern, tropical aesthetic). Kate was also at the sleepover and we would be spending the rest of the day together, doing something we were both looking forward to: shopping. We headed down for breakfast, and I made the selection of a cereal which had a surprising similarity to fruit loops. Later, for lunch we went to a restaurant called Chocolatta Green. I ordered Milanesa Caballo, which despite the name is not horse meat. It was breaded chicken with two fried eggs and cheese on top. My host family wanted me to try Dulce de Leche ice cream, so we headed to a gelato shop. The ice cream was different from ours in America, but it was just as enjoyable.

Afterwords we headed to the mall, and shopped for gifts for my family. The mall was gorgeous and had beautiful paintings on the ceiling and walls. Next we went to a show called Fuerza Bruta. It was similar to Cirque de Soleil, but with more dancing and lights. There were lots of performers flying through the air, wind effects, and colorful projections that made it a great show! There was even a water sequence and most of us got soaking wet.

  1. I had started this Sunday morning very late, approximately 11:00 a.m since I slept in so much. As I had Nesquik cereal for my late breakfast, we stayed in the house and relaxed until 2 o’ clock to head to the mall and pick up tickets for a show called Fuerze Bruta, or in English “Brute Force”. The show included strobe lights, bungee cords, dancers, and much more! Afterwards we ate at a pizza restaurant and went to bed.

  2. I woke up late today at around 11. After waking up, my host family and I headed straight to Buenos Aires to shop at various malls. Afterwards, we had lunch at a steakhouse called Happenings which was very good. There I had bife de chorizo and papas fritas. After that then we walked around and visited another mall before going to watch Fuerza Bruta. We then headed out for pizza with some of the other exchange students.

  3. I also started the morning late. After finally making my way downstairs, I had a bowl of zucaritas(Frosted Flakes). At lunch time, some of ushad ravioli while the rest of the family headed over the a relatives house for asado. After lunch Popi’s brother taught me about the rules and workings of FIFA (the game not the organization). We then headed to the mall with some of the other members of the exchange. After the mall we went to see La Fuerza Bruta, which as adrienne said, was amazing and exciting. Afterwards, adrienne juana popi and I had dinner at a restaurant called barullo. It was decorated with vintage motorcycles and car models, with a very industrial vibe. We had seafood, salad and Milanesas. Afterwards we returned home and went to bed.

  4. I woke up at 11:30. After I woke up, me and Gina had a late breakfast and went to a mall in Buenos Aires in order to get tickets for a show called Fuerza Bruta. Afterwards, we went to another mall to go shopping and I bought a sweater. Then we went to the show. It started off with singing and later on there were people swimming around in a glass case above us. It ended with a lot of water falling down on us. It was weird but I really liked it. After that we went out for dinner with some of the other exchange students and had pizza.

  5. Hey Adrienne,
What a coincidence! I did the exact same thing as you!! Wow! I woke up to the thump of Valentina’s body on top of mine then the sound of Michelle’s laughter. After the sleepover Emilia’s family and I had lunch then we walked over to the mall where we met up with Adrienne, Juana, Valen, Vicky, Popi, and Chelsea. We shopped for a good hour then headed over to Frueza Bruta. FB was so much fun and it was so different than anything I’ve ever seen.

    1. Me too! We all had a sleep over the night before and did the exact same thing as eachother. However Adrienne and Kate, there is some lies within your writing. I can confidently say that I was not laughing when being awaken by Valentina. I take my sleeping schedule very seriously. Fuerza Bruta was an amazing expierence. It made me think about all the art from around the world that we will never get to see.

  6. After a very restful sleep and morning, my host family and I set out to Boca Stadium. My bother was excited that I would be able to see it in person, so we decided to take the tour. Our guide was very entertaining; making fun of us and our favorite teams as he told us a bit about the team and stadium’s history. I took some great photos of the field and in the locker room, as Feli, Augusto and I got a special pass to go see it! I might have to go talk to some of the CA coaches and convince them to let us upgrade our own. Hungry, we headed to the restaurant Johnny B Good for a late lunch, before going home and to a well deserved nap. It was a lovely day, and I can’t wait to show my brother all the pictures I took.

  7. On Sunday we were rained out of sailing, unfortunately, but it turned out to be okay because Tomás and I went to a place with Ross and Lucas where we had to find clues and solve puzzles to escape a room (we failed twice). After that, we went to a libreria where we bought books by the author we had learned about on Saturday. We also are there. Finally, as many others did, we went to fuerza bruta and ate pizza afterwards with everyone.

  8. Sunday morning we went to the pool for about an hour, we then went shopping and hung out at Starbucks. After that we chilled for a couple hours and then went to see Captain America.

  9. On Sunday, I slept until 12, it was great. And that night I met up with the others for the show furs Bruta, and pizza after.

  10. On Sunday, we slept in late and headed to the mall for lunch and coffee. Then we met up with the group to go see fuerza bruta, which was an interesting experience.

  11. Sunday morning I slept in after a long Saturday night and even longer week before. I woke up at 11:00 so I could get ready and leave for a barbecue at Pancho’s aunt’s house at 11:40. When we arrived we were welcomed by a barrage of kisses and hugs from Pancho’s large Italian family. I met and spoke with each of Pancho’s many cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas. However, most of what they said went right over my head, because like a true Italian family they spoke very fast and all at once. They asked me a lot about North Carolina, lacrosse, movies, and even English curse words; all while enjoying various barbecued meats like chorizos. I enjoyed meeting all of Pancho’s family and discussing with them what my life is like in the US.

  12. On Sunday Joe, Hernan, Bautista and I woke up and ate breakfast. After breakfast we went to the pool. After going to the pool we went to the mall and hung out with some of the other kids at Starbucks. From Starbucks we went to another mall for a short period of time and then went back to Hernan’d flat to play tennis. To cap off the day we saw Captain America: Civil War.
