Today I woke up around 11:30 still a little tired after our fun welcome party from last night. I started to get ready for the day and then around noon me and Juani sat down together to eat breakfast. Her parents woke up earlier than us, so they had already eaten so it was just us two. Today I had a breakfast of medialunas which are like croissants. After breakfast I finished getting ready for a birthday lunch for Juani’s older brother, Tomás. We went to Cornelio Restaurante which is an Italian restaurant. I had Caprese Ravioli, but everyone shared their food with everyone else, so I also had a little bit of risotto and meat. Because it was someone’s birthday, they brought out a tiramisu which we passed around, and everyone ate after singing happy birthday of course. After we all finished eating and taking pictures, we went back to Juani’s house to eat some cheesecake that her mom made and watch the Argentina vs France rugby match. Sadly, Argentina lost and after that we watched some of the Men’s French Open. After that we went to Pili’s house to meet up with some other girls to hang out for a little bit. We talked some and had some snacks like cookies and medialunas. After a little while, we decided to do some blind karaoke which then just turned into regular karaoke because we were having so much fun. After that we returned to the house and just rested for a little while before having a delicious dinner. We had chicken, cheesy mashed potatoes, and salad for dinner with more of the delicious cheesecake from earlier. One of her brothers and his girlfriend were still over so it was like a small family dinner. I saw a little bit of the River game that was going on and then started to get ready for bed because we need to get up early for school. I can’t wait for more fun days like today! —Cate
Today I woke up at 11, looking like a complete mess. I thought Vic was over exaggerating the amount and length of the gatherings Argentinians went to. After getting back from a party at 2 am the night before, I was completely exhausted and ready to sleep. My exchange partner though, told me that he was going out to hang out with more friends, and came back at 6 in the morning. After waking up, I took a quick shower and played with my exchange partners dog, Westie. We had asado and fries for lunch and it was delicious. I loved the pork asado the best as it was a little crispy and it was very delicious with the bread. After eating lunch, I took a short nap before going to a strip mall with my partner. At the strip mall, we met up with Patrick, Shrey, Grant, Aidan, Brady, Rehan, Yusef, and their exchange partners before going and looking around some stores. We all watched Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes together and it was a decent movie. I found the ending to be a little confusing and rushed and didn’t enjoy the movie as much as the previous ones in the series. After going to the movie, me and my partner went back to our neighborhood and met up with a couple of friends. I met them yesterday when I was watching my exchange partner play a soccer match with Pilar de Lago. I was able to practice a little bit of Spanish and talk about my experiences in Argentina while also sharing my life in the States. Overall, I got to experience and learn a lot more of about Argentinian culture today and bonded a lot with my partner today. –Steve
