A healthy balance makes for a better life.
Often times, it can be very difficult to achieve a balance in your life between academics, athletics, work, family, and social life, among others.
While all of these things are undoubtedly very important to you, there are most likely some that you find more important than the others. Thus, it can help to “prioritize” what is most important to you. Whenever you are in a crunch for time and only have time to do one activity as opposed to multiple, select one of your top priorities and do that. This can help you ensure that the most important things get done first. Remember, just because you don’t get something done right away, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to get done.
Another thing you can do is to plan out each week before it starts. To do this, check Haiku, Veracross, and other school-related calendars to figure out what days you have assessments and when your homework is due for that week. Next, think about any family events, sport events or practices, and social events you have already planned for that week. Fill out your schedule with all of the above, making sure to use specific times, in an order that suits you best. If you find that there are gaps in your agenda, you can fill these in with extra social events, something else, or you could always leave it as free time for yourself.
