You are not alone.
You may feel isolated from the rest of the population due to your mental health condition. You may feel like everyone else is living in a bubble where everything is perfect, and you are on the outside looking in. Firstly, you have to remember that you are NEVER alone. Millions of people worldwide suffer from similar conditions to you. Additionally, even if they aren’t going through similar issues, someone close to you, such as a family member, can help you. Secondly, you have to realize that everybody has something going on- let’s face it, no one is perfect. So, it is irrational to assume that everyone else is so much happier than you. While they may appear happy on the outside, you don’t know for sure that they truly feel that way. You have to remember that everybody is dealing with something, and that everyone’s suffering is valid.
To read stories from people who suffer from mental illness, the National Alliance on Mental Illness has cultivated a wide range of anecdotes from anonymous users, many of them adolescents just like us.
