Tuesday, May 28: Bundestag and Distel Theater

We had another very busy day in Berlin today, starting at the iconic Brandenburg Gate.  From there we walked to the Holocaust Memorial, and then it was off to the historic Reichstag building for a program arranged for us through the office of Markus Koob, the Bundestag representative from Oberursel.  Our program started with a visit to the Bundestag observation gallery, followed by a private meeting with Mr. Koob, who thoughtfully answered our many questions.   We then went up into the glass dome of the Reichstag building to enjoy a panoramic view of Berlin, after which we were treated to lunch in an ultramodern government office building overlooking the Spree River.  Next up was a scenic cruise along the Spree River.  After a bit of free time for dinner around the Friedrichstraße, we finished the day with a comedy show performance at the Distel Theater.  By the time we made it back to our hotel, everyone was ready to fall into bed, exhausted but happy.

We’ll be posting many more pictures from this day later this week, together with the student reflections.  In the meantime, please know that we are all well and having a great time in the German capital!
