The first weekend that I spent with my family we went to a castle called Chambord. The Chambord is a very big castle, about the size of Biltmore for a comparison. I was told that it is famous for all of its fireplaces, which I think they said that there were more than hundred. From my understanding, in the picture, the fireplaces are all of the towers that you can see. Since there are a lot of towers, they must be a lot of fireplaces. We spend must of the day there although we didn’t go inside. My family said that isn’t very pretty inside in comparison to the other castles, which was fine with me because I don’t enjoy looking at houses. When we got there, we had a picnic in the backyard, I couldn’t identify the front from the back, but I think it was the back. The picnic had sandwiches, Lays and peanut butter cookies with chocolate on the inside. I don’t know what was on the sandwiches but it was good. We ride bikes on the trails that went around the castle. The trails went through the woods and around what looked like a man made river near the castle. Throughout the trails, there were points where you could “see animals.” We didn’t see even a bird in any of the places we stopped, although there were claims of deers and boars. After that, we went to a horse history show. I didn’t understand much so I can’t explain what it was about. But I will say this, after the first part I asked my exchange student what they said and he said he didn’t understand much either because they were speaking very old French. At that point, I knew I wouldn’t get a word and zoned out. The day ended with a bang when a little kid tripped on my bike and started crying. When I went to say I was sorry, given the look I received, that isn’t what I said. Who knows what I actually said, but we left the park after that and went home.
