Day 7 by Danica

Today, I started the day by waking up around 8 am, and ate a small breakfast of brioche, hazelnut spread, and green tea. After my breakfast, Louane and I rode to school with her dad, Anthony.

Once we arrived at school, she left to go to her morning class, and I headed off to Tours à Table. When we got there, we split into two smaller groups. First, we made a parfait-like dessert, using ladyfinger cookies dipped in apple juice, strawberries, fresh mint from the garden outside, and a sweetened mixture of cream cheese and yogurt. After that, we made small tarts out of puff pastry. These tarts contained goat cheese, tomatoes, herbs, and honey. Finally, we made chocolate lava cakes (which were absolutely delicious). At the end of our session there, we sat down for lunch and ate all of the food that we had made over the last few hours.

We walked back to the school as a group, and then I attended two different English classes (one with Mme. Grosjean and one with Mme. Becker, which was particularly interesting because Joyce and I got second place in the class’s kahoot). After that, I chatted with the other American students in the courtyard for about an hour, and then met my exchange student there.

We left at 3:45 to do a bit of shopping on the Main Street. I bought chocolates for my family, and a book and a few different articles of clothing for myself. We walked all the way down the street to the boulangerie there, where I tried a combination of a croissant and a cookie. Despite feeling like I was going to get kicked out of France for ordering this touristy abomination, after I tried it, I had to admit that it was quite tasty.

We drove home with Louane’s dad, who dropped her off at practice and then dropped me off at the house. I was quite tired, and I planned to take a short nap, but I ended up sleeping until 9:15, when her dad woke me up for dinner. We had a delicious dinner of salad, cheeses, a pasta salad with seafood, bread,  and a tuna cake (a bit like a meatloaf). By the time dinner finished, it was quite late, and I was quite tired, so I headed upstairs to get ready for bed and finished up the night by writing this blog post.
