On Day 5 of Step Into South Asia, we started our day off by viewing presentations on both Sri Lanka and the Maldives and learning about their unique cultures, geography, religion, athletics, economies, and much more. We then spent some time watching live cricket matches from the India Premier League (IPL), followed by playing a Kahoot with questions revolving around the central themes of South Asian culture, cuisine, geography, and religion. After playing the Kahoot, we capitalized on the paused rainfall at the time and proceeded to go to Kababish Cafe, a local Pakistani restaurant with authentic Pakistani cuisine situated in the midst of downtown Cary. We all had the opportunity to try some of their delicious dishes, ranging from chicken tandoori wraps to naan pizza to spicy chicken to masala-flavored soda! The food was absolutely amazing! We then came back to Cary Academy and saw a couple episodes of Hasan Minhaj (an Indian Muslim comedian), then we also got to watch about half of a Pakistani movie on Netflix called Teefa in Trouble. Both the comedy as well as the movie were excellent! We had a very enjoyable first week of Step Into South Asia DT and greatly look forward to next week as well!!!
