Today we visited Transplanting Traditions. Transplanting Traditions is a community farm where refugees, specifically from Burma, can plant foods native to their country and do what they love. Our tour guide, Betsy, taught us about all the fruits, vegetables, and flowers they plant and how their farming works. There are many hoop houses (pictured below) where the plants are first planted before they are moved outside. After touring Transplanting Traditions, we helped plant different kinds of melons (ex. rich sweetness melons) at the SAS Apple Tree Farm. We also learned how to use a hand plow and helped spread nutrients.
