Today, the Cook it and Book it DT made Tres Leches Cake. Going out of our comfort zone to create a classic meal from Mexico and many Latin American countries, we successfully produced a delicious, refreshing spongy cake.

Additionally, we used ripe vegetables from the garden to whip up a quick stir fry with leftover tofu, bok choy, and cucumber salad. It was spicy and fresh!

Afterwards, we continued to work on the cookbook and played a cooking videogame: Overcooked! It was hilarious to watch, but stressful to play, and team work was a essential to keep from burning the food.

Note from Ms. Oon: One of the most interesting moments for me today was during our time playing Overcooked. The mechanisms of the game are simple: There are only two buttons to press, one for pick up/put down and the other to do an action (chop, cook, plate, etc). What I initially assumed would be a lighthearted, funny, set of games with some screaming produced many interesting observations on my part. As is typically the case, the girls were the first to buy into the idea. Initally, we enjoyed some lighthearted screams, a lot of yelling, and a lot of laughs. Meanwhile, the boys lost interest. When the others insisted the boys take the controllers, a relaxed attitude transformed into a strategic approach. They became calm and focused, communicating simply but extremely efficifiently in a language they shared through videogames. What a very fascinating experience!

See ya next time!
