we started off the morning with painting our own pots which was super fun! after being stuck at a left turn, intriguing conversation regarding shapeshifting fingernails and teeth and losing track of how many coats of glaze we had applied, we ended up with many adorable pots. i chose a dragon and it’s cute form appealed to many others, but they all came out very different which was cool to see. my friend and i chose flag colors close to our hearts but there were green dragons to purple penguins. all in all it was a fun experience and i would definitely go back. – Renee Z.
This morning, we went to paint your pot and chose an item to paint. I wanted to paint a pattern, so I chose a simple vase as my canvas. I used an off-white for a base coat, then added saturated yellow, red, orange, and teal flowers on top. While painting we had a very insightful discussion about Inception and the trolley problem. In the last ten minutes, I added a muted green leaves to tie the piece together and did a single coat to keep the it subtle after the glaze. – Avani B.
In the morning, we went to Paint Your Pot. With the $10 budget, I chose to paint a skull shot glass(emo). I couldn’t decide how to paint it though, I didn’t want to do something boring or generic, but I didn’t know how to work around that problem. As I was reminded there were sponges to wipe the dust of the ceramics, I came up with something. While sponges weren’t necessarily given to use for this reason, I mine to make a sort of tie-dyed effect. While it was out of my comfort zone and something that I didn’t often do, it was definitely worth it. I ended up really enjoying the process and really liked the end product. Even doing the simplest and smallest things outside of your comfort zone can make big changes and they grow a more open mindset. – Angie E.
