After spending the morning researching many chocolate chip cookie recipes, we got to spend the afternoon putting the ones we chose to the test. Groups experimented with things like using brown butter, different amounts of brown sugar, and chopping vs not chopping up their chocolate chips. Browning butter in particular was a new process for many people so it was a great learning experience. Some groups had hoped to have more time to chill their dough before baking, but in the end every cookie came out quite well. We ended with quite the variety of cookies, some having oatmeal, walnuts, or even expresso powder inclusions. Once all of the cookies were baked everyone got to try each kind of cookie and the “Desert Person” chocolate chip cookie recipe was voted the best.
