The Empowering Women D.T. started the day by sharing collages we had created the day about “feminism” and “women’s rights.” Everyone created a different one based on pictures we found in magazines and online, and they focused on everything from all of the progress women had made throughout history to the harmful stereotypes that are still being perpetrated in magazines today. After that, we participated in a scavenger hunt, where we were able to find information about some vital female figures in history and discover places on the CA campus where they might have enjoyed visiting. We ended the morning by playing the popular game “headband” about more important female figures throughout history.
In the afternoon, we traveled to the diaper bank, where we volunteered to help families who are being forced to choose whether to feed their children or give them diapers. We ended the day by visiting Pineapple Soul, a woman-owned bakery, where we all got delicious cake. Finally, we arrived back at CA and enjoyed our cake while watching some very inspiring gymnasts.
