For the second day of Step Into South Asia, we explored the different cultural aspects of India, especially religion and food. In the morning, we first went to an Indian Orthodox Church where an Indian Orthodox Priest gave us a presentation on Christianity in India, the practices and customs of Indian Orthodoxy, and the origins of this religion. Once the presentation was finished, there was a Q and A, and we were given prayer bands and little icons from the priest. After, we traveled to a Hindu temple where a guide showed us around the temple and the different gods in Hinduism. We had the opportunity to explore the cultural and religious significance of a multitude of Hindu gods and associated traditions. After touring the temple, we proceeded to go to Persis Indian Grill, where we enjoyed a plethora of delicious Indian dishes and drinks representative of traditional South Asian cuisine. We even went next door to Coldstone and had ice cream together as a group! Overall, the second day of Step Into South Asia DT was a blast, and there is much more fun to come!!!
