The day started out with the creation of an artist playlist. I learned that Spotify ads are a great way to practice patience. Afterwards, we played fun sketchbook games where I learned what photons were on the particle level, the duality of cats and how evil cranes are. Finally, we made dog toys! – Fiona H.
Today in Experiencing Art we starting by being gifted with our own sketch books and pencil to keep with us during our two weeks together. We put these to use by playing sketch book games with a random emoji generator! This is where we had three random emojis and had five minutes to create an amazing original image completely from our own imagination. Sharing are masterpieces in a circle, we were able to see different creations and views, bouncing ideas of each other. I found that I was able to laugh at all of the create creations that were made from the other people in my group. My favorite sketch that I made was birthday party for a dragon that I made in only 10 minutes!! – Alana W.
Today we started with sketch challenges. It was a little rough to start because I am not confident with my drawing skills so I had a hard time showing my work to others even though I loved my ideas. But eventually I became confident enough that I took a picture of my work. Because seeing others work and how confident they were showing off made me feel better. Then we made dog toys and that was fun because I had time to get over my anxiety and had a relaxing time braiding the toys. It is really soothing to cut up an old shirt and make it into something that can be used more than it already is. Seeing and drawing the therapy dogs a a great experience. After having a stressful end of the year getting to sit back and draw adorable dogs was a nice way to relax. The day started out rough for me because I didn’t know exactly how I’d do but I think my drawings were pretty ok and the walk we took was a nice but sweaty break. I really look forward to tomorrow. – Maria S.
