In the afternoon, we had five service dogs come to our DT for us to draw. When they were here, I saw Ella (the dog) and Avani hanging out together. I decided to take this photo and I think it summed up our afternoon really well! Beyond spending time petting dogs, we talked, drew, and reflected on all of the things we had drawn throughout the whole day. Overall, I think today was a great showcase of what is to come for the rest of our DT and I can’t wait to see what is in store for next time. – Milena C.
This is Whopper, the giant Mastiff and Great Dane mix that weighs about 120 lbs. Meeting him was the highlight of my day. He decided to sit on me, and I got some up close and personal time with him. He was a super sweet and super big dog that I got the privilege of drawing. We got to meet some other amazing dogs; they were all pretty amazing live subjects. Overall, we got to do a lot of real time drawings and it was nice to see all of the different skill levels. It was a great first day experience and a great introduction to the Discovery Term. – Angie E.
Today after a long nature walk, 5 service dogs came to greet us. One of the dogs, Whopper, was bigger than us and had brown spots all along his body. We all tried to sketch the dogs, and I soon realized how much they moved every minute. To get the best drawing possible, my friends and I took pictures of the dogs and used them as a reference. After the therapy dogs left, we soon realized the importance of perspective and how quickly one’s perspective can change, especially while drawing. This exercise made me realize why inanimate objects like a bowl of fruit are sometimes a very popular thing to sketch, as they never move. – Corinne L.
