In the morning, the Cook it & Book it DT went to H-Mart to both gather ingredients for later use and also to explore new foods. Grace shares: “It was super informative, and I got to try so many types of foods.” Overall, everyone agreed that H-Mart surpassed their expectations. We ate a diverse and delicious lunch at this market’s food court, devouring dishes such as sushi, Korean corndogs, and miso soup. When we arrived back at Cary Academy, we began our cooking session with Hailey’s mom! We cooked two Chinese dishes: Cumin beef and Tofu with Broccoli. The whole DT picked up new skills in the kitchen while also learning more about the culture. Shariah shares: “I liked the beef, there were so many great things (spices) together — something that I would have never made.” For improvement, Cam says: “I thought we did great, I don’t really think we need to improve on anything. But maybe stop whipping out random fruits.” Cam is referring to the sugarcane and dragonfruit that were bought from H-Mart — both were delicious and something many of our members have not tried before!

See ya next time!
