To formally close off our first week of DT, we watched “Us” after eating at Dames. If you didn’t know, “Us” is a 2019 Jordan Peele horror/thriller film about a family who goes on vacation to Santa Monica Beach, but unfortunately becomes accosted by masked strangers who are revealed to look just like said family. “Us” serves as an allegory for the duality of American society and how lower class people are generally oppressed, and never given the time of day. This was both mine (Jazlyn’s) and Sydney’s first time watching, and I really enjoyed the thematic implications of the movie; however, being the overthinker I am, I have many questions about some of the plot points.
