Today we spoke with Prof. Colin Keenan, a pioneer of VR at NC State and also a librarian there. He first talked to us about the 5 main forms of virtual reality. These were: novel computer-human interaction, physical interaction, responsive view of virtual content, special tracking and a mix of live action and digital layers. Prof. Keenan talked to us about how VR isn’t just for gaming and doesn’t always require a headset. Next, Prof. Keenan showed us how to create our own VR room on a browser (using this website https://hubs.mozilla.com/spoke). He created a VR hub that we were able to join, where we were able to interact with each other virtually, and even place down objects and messages. This allowed us to understand some future uses of VR such as human to human virtual interaction and VR social media, projects which Prof. Keenan is working on.

The horrors we have done upon our room.
