Here’s just a quick selfie with the group, our tour guide Peter who is a CA alum, and his coworker. We decided to take a picture in front of the Royal Ice Cream sign, not only for the aesthetic appeal because it is actually a plaque commemorating the sit-in that occurred at Royal Ice Cream by who seven people (Mary Elizabeth Clyburn, Rev. Douglas Elaine Moore, Claude Edward Glenn, Jesse Willard Gray, Vivian Elaine Jones, Melvin Haywood Willis, and Virginia Lee Williams) who came to be known as the Royal 7. I’ve never heard of this sit-in before, so I think it’s important to highlight the significant piece of NC Black history!
