After briefly discussing our plans for the week, we drove to Jordan Lake’s New Hope Overlook to do a 5- mile hike. We hiked for about 4 miles before stopping to do an open-water swim across the lake, which serves as good practice for our overnight trip.  We were also confronted by some jet skiers, who found our open-water swim to be rather strange. We finished the loop by hiking 1 mile back to the parking lot. As seen in the picture, Mr. Rushin also enthusiastically showed us a snake that he spotted.

Bigfoot?

On the trail, we encountered a hairy creature. He was relatively friendly, though.
