Franchise Mode 5/25/2021
Case Studies
In Franchise Mode this morning (5/25), we did a case study as a team regarding franchise rebranding. We researched the Washington Football Team, Seattle Kraken, Iceland Nation Soccer Team, and Charlotte FC, which were all teams that rebranded their franchise due to various causes. We wanted to research those causes and decide whether or not the franchise was successful in its rebranding. The main goal of this activity was to learn more about the rights and wrongs of branding a successful franchise so that we can practice what we learn on the logos that we designed on the first day of the Discovery Term.
30-for-30 on Branding
We wanted to dive deeper into branding and what makes a successful franchise in the afternoon, so we found a 30-for-30 on a very well-known sports marketing executive. The documentary presented the life of the sports marketing executive, Sonny Vaccaro, who made brand deals with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, two of the greatest basketball players of all time. The movie covers the issues that come with the branding business, the steps to a successful franchise, and other facets of branding. The goal of this activity was to learn more about the process of branding and how these discoveries can be implemented in our own franchise.
