We began Wednesday morning making our final preparations for our first speaker, Luke Buxton. Luke recently graduated from UNC, where he created his own major called Sports, Media, and Social Change. Luke shared his experiences with us, talking about what it was like to work in sports media at a high-profile university like UNC. Luke also co-founded an organization called Uncut at UNC, which gives athletes the opportunity to speak up on issues that are important to them, things like mental health and social change. Luke gave us great insights on how to get started with sports media and how to build connections within the industry. Luke was a great role model that left us feeling inspired and motivated to continue our activities this week.

In the afternoon we shifted gears and headed downtown for a field trip. We visited the NC Sports Hall of Fame in the NC Museum of History.  We were able to follow up some of our discussions from earlier in the week, looking at how branding has changed on the collegiate level throughout the years. We talked about how logos have changed to become more wearable, and how marketing as a whole has become a much larger aspect of today’s collegiate sports.

Greetings from the Sports Hall of Fame, with Andon and Zack
