Image 1: Nick Halferty works on creating his logo for the Fayetteville Firebirds

On Day 1 of the Franchise mode DT. We focused initially on the basics of what we would be doing for the next 2 weeks before diving right into the action. Students began to craft their franchise, choosing team colors, names, designing uniforms, as well as creating team logos. Further looking into logos we discussed the importance of appearance in the teams’ logo and how it must be aesthetically pleasing. Members also began setting up their team’s social media presence as it is very important in the growth of a new organization. After lots of creativity in the morning, we headed to lunch for an hour. When we regrouped it was time for some DT bonding so teams were created and a bracket was made for a Discovery Term Spikeball tournament. Shout out to our winners: Matt, Ian, and Zack.

Another classmate created this logo for their franchise: The Oak City Orbit. It utilizes techniques that were learned about such as the acorn representing the local region relating to the team. It may give fans a stronger connection to the team.
