Today, students started off by finishing the brakes that they had started to change yesterday. The passenger side pads were changed, but the driver side pads had yet to be replaced. Having had help from Mr. Shepherd and me yesterday, students were able to tackle the brakes today in a more hands-on manner with less help from their instructors.

After lunch, the group split into two, with one learning how to effectively vacuum and clean with Ms. Burnett’s car and the other learning how to change the oil and oil filter on my own car. During the oil change, students were able to apply knowledge on how to safely jack up a car from when they had done the same while changing the brakes on the Honda. They also learned various tips concerning oil changes, like removing the fill plug before draining the oil, spreading oil on the new oil filter before replacing it, and how to read an oil dipstick.
