Today we focused on the cuisines and cultures of India. Our day started with a presentation from one of our fellow DT members, Thavish. He gave us the basics of Indian cuisine, talking about popular ingredients, dishes, and customs when it came to meal time. We then watched an episode of Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi that reflected on a lot of the things Thavish had told us.
After this, we all got to try a samosa, a fried pastry with savory filling (potatoes, peas, etc.) that Thavish had brought in for us. These were very delicious, but not many students were brave enough to try the spicy sauce that was also brought in.

Then we were off to Persis Indian Grill for lunch. Everyone got the chance to look at the different dishes offered on the menu, and try something that we had learned about. Many students also ordered a Mango Lassi, which is a mango and yogurt drink we had also previously talked about.
After heading back to CA with a short break to let us digest all we had eaten, we watched another episode of Ugly Delicious. This episode with David Chang also featured Padma Lakshmi, and others that we had seen that morning in Taste the Nation. Our day concluded with a short discussion about the ways global trade effects cuisine, and specifically South Asian.
