After a productive morning of editing our mini-documentary, our DT members headed out to the Carolina Tiger Rescue site where we saw a variety of exotic cats including tigers, lions, servals, and caracals. Although many of these cats preferred to spend the hot afternoon in the shade, we did get to see a few up close, such as two tigers and two caracals. We also learned about the mission of the Carolina Tiger Rescue, and they are a nonprofit organization / sanctuary for pets that were unwanted. Many of their animals were given up and some even used to be circus animals but were thankfully given new homes at the rescue center where they became much healthier. It was interesting to see how the amounts of resources a nonprofit rescue center had compared to a similar place we visited such as a Conservators Center and I think our DT can say for a fact that we enjoyed our first visits to the CTR.
