On our third day of the learning sprint, we took our first class field trip to the CarMax on Glenwood Ave. Our prior research and commitment to our case studies regarding the process prepared us well for the carlot with of over 275+ vehicles. We had the privilege of speaking with general manager Jonathan Jones who had been with CarMax for 16 years. He took us through the appraisal process using Mr. Gozon’s Honda Odyssey which showed us several business factors these companies consider when making decisions. The atmosphere left a positive impact on us all where we learned of the history behind CarMax’s second-ever site and the productivity of this massive company including the Business to Business (B2B) side of wholesale auctions. Our group bonding continued at the CA family owned NeoAsia where we indulged in a splendid variety of Asian dishes. Lastly, we were blessed with the opportunity to practice our interview skills with talking to CA’s very own Palmer Seeley. We will take these skills to the CarMax headquarters in Richmond Virginia next week when we talk to corporate executives.
