I think Nien Cheng would not behave just like the Red Guards because she seems to think about her actions. I also believe that she would not be brainwashed and she could choose from right and wrong. Nien Cheng was respected. Another side of me believes that she might participate in a little of this because she could be a little mad at the upper class. But I also know she would not take it to as far as an extreme as the Red Guards did in her situation.

Hey my name is Dui-Hai obviously the best person ever (besides Chairmen Mao) I can’t wait to be announced a Red Successor. I mean it isn’t official but I know anyway. I mean look at me I was obviously meant to be one. I walk into to class with my head held high. I wave to everyone to let them know that I’m worthy. As I sit in my chair I notice Ji-li. She is checking her nails like she doesn’t care about Chairmen Mao. How rude. Anyone who thinks they are worthy of serving Chairmen Mao must pay attention. My mom, who is the Neighborhood Party Committee Secretary told me to watch out for girls like Ji-li. She is a teacher’s pet. She cares about her grades. There has always been something off with her. Like the way she writes notes and how she is always studying. Teacher Gu walked in the room and the election started. Yin Lan-lan raised her hand. She is the only other worthy opponent in the election. She did bring up a good point. Those with bad class status should not be elected. I looked at Ji-li. I know all about her little secrets. When they were nominating Ji-li was nominated. I can’t believe it. They must not know everything about her. Just wait until they see. The first person to go up was Yu Jian. His speech was great. I’m going to have to think of something way better. Then Ji-li stood up. Get ready because this is going to be boring. She stands up and tells us that her parents are not part of the communist party. How can she even run for Red Successor? Someone yelled through the crowd “WHATS YOUR CLASS STATUS? She didn’t even know. I guess I’m going to have to tell the entire class. Her grandfather was a land lord. The whole class was in shock. Her grandfather was one of the blood suckers who exploited farmers. That was the number one enemy. The worst of the Five Black Category’s. What was even worse is that her father was a rightist. He was one of the reactionary intellectuals that attack our party. And after all of this she still wanted to be a Red Successor. I think not. She thought I was lying. I guess she didn’t know that my mom was Neighborhood Party Committee Secretary. She started to cry. She ran out of the class room. Now I didn’t feel bad at all. Her father is a rightist and her grandfather was a landlord. After she left the room went silent. Everybody was still in shock. Yin Lan-lan said “I cannot believe she even tried to be a Red Successor”. The class all agreed. I stood up and gave my speech. The whole entire class was in awe of my speech. I smile and gave a wink. The class all agreed that nobody could beat my speech so I was automatically selected. See told you I was the best.
My mom is a beloved lady. I feel as now that dads gone it is my job to protect her. I can’t let the red guards take her. I’ve already lost on person I can’t lose another
After dinner I called my wife.” darling sweetie we need to talk” I told her” today at work I heard that the red guard will arrest anyone with pictures showing richness because it considered four olds” we both nodded. We knew what we had to do. I smile at mom and she told the kids to go play. “Mom” I said. “Go sit on the couch so you won’t worry. I ran around the house looking for any picture showing my past.
My wife and I went into the bathroom. One after one I watched my past swallowed into flames. I saw pictures of my dad and I wanted to keep them but then I thought of my mom, wife, and kids. I had to protect what I had. The air was thick with smoke. My wife asked me to open a window. I told her “darling we can open it a little but not wide” She cough then left the room to get a glass of water. I heard the door open and I froze. Then I heard the laughter of my children. I smiled as I toke a sip of water. We continued to burn pictures. I smile as I remember every moment of my past.Ji-Li is the oldest

My poem

By Luca Libralato, San Felice Circeo lazio, Italy What a sight!
Good night city
Good night place
I’ll see you again when the sky’s awake
Over the ocean
Quiet breeze
Fill the air oh pretty please
Just wait — hold on
Don’t move
When the sun comes up I’ll be there soon
Good night moon
I’ll see you soon
Tomorrow when I’m awake I’ll be with you
In my poem ” Good Night Moon”, I created a story in which the speaker is going to sleep after a long day. See is saying good night hoping she will see everything again when she wakes up. The theme of my poem is when something bad happens everything is not over. This is inspired by when you go to sleep you say goodbye but soon you wake up to say hello. I used a few poetic techniques Including rhyme with the breeze and please. I also used some rhythm with the syllables matching 4,4,10.
My favorite character is Leona. Leona is a strong women with determination. What I really like about Leona is that she is really funny. In the book Leona says that her kids school has more guns than books. I thought that it was funny. Another great thing about Leona is that she sticks up for herself. She doesn’t like to be ignored. I also don’t like to be ignored. I think she is a powerful women who is determined.
