Potential Science Careers
The job that I have chosen to study and hopefully do when I get older is a Psychologist. What they can do to help people is they can teach athletes how to increase mental focus for a better in-game performance. They can assist soldiers from the battlefield to the home front. They can help people conquer their fears. Also, they can improve our education systems by researching how people learn. An overview for being a phycologist is people take certain actions and we don’t know what causes them to. Psychologist help figures out why people act the way they do by investigating physical, cognitive, emotional, or social aspects of human behavior and the human mind. Some psychologist also applies these findings in order to design better products or to help people change their behavior.
Some key requirements that every psychologist must have is a keen interest in people, compassion, patience, and the ability to get other people to open up and tell what they feel.
The minimum degree needed is a master or a doctoral degree and a license. On exception is if I decide to work for the federal government which in that case I will need 24 semester hours. I f I become a Psychologist I would want to attend the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor because they have one of the top programs in the country, having a total Psychology faculty of 103. But before that in High School to help me prepare I want to take biology, chemistry, English, and if we have it psychology.
The median salary for the US is 48,320 but for Psychologist is 68,900. So us psychologist on average get paid 20,580 above the average US salary every year. The predicted growth over a course of 10 years (2012-2022) is 7% to 13% which is pretty average not to good or bad.
If I decide not to be a physiologist then I want to go into other related jobs like child, family, and school social workers, an occupational therapist, or a program director (such as educational or religious activities)
On the job I would be required to identify emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders. I would have to develop individual treatment plans, specifying type and intensity. I would definitely interact with clients to assist them in defining goals and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and discuss the treatment of problems with clients. To help clients I would need to use a variety of treatment methods, such as psychotherapy, hypnosis, behavior modification, stress reduction therapy, psychodrama, and play therapy.
Three things that make me want to be a physiologist is the fact that you get to help people out and make a difference in the community, also you might even save relationships. Another reason I would want to be a psychologist is the time that you are required to go to college, because you already have 12 years, I don’t I can go much longer. But with all the pros there are some cons. One reason I don’t want to be a physiologist is that you have to collect data and make diagnoses and I am not really good at that.
