Day 5

Dr. Siegel’s office was closed on today so I once again watched some videos on YouTube. I decided to watch some “day in the life of a dental student” videos to get a feel of what it would be like. The students were very busy but enjoyed what they were doing. They knew that their hard work would be worth it in the end. I also look at “days in the life of a dental hygienist” because I wanted to see what their days are like as well. I know that the hygienists get to do less schooling so I wanted to see if I was interested in what they get to do as well! Here are some links to some of the videos I watched since I don’t have any interesting images.

First Day Work Experience (Strategic Connections)

Today is my first day of work experience. I am working with a project manager. He is a commercial project manager. Today he showed me around the company, he  showed me the warehouse and I did work with him. The warehouse was very big and I got to see how all the packages are placed in piles based on what the project is. He is working on a big project for ECU. He is working to replace the football jumbotron screen and put a newer and nicer one in. We also did some work in excel to make sure all the pricing for the products are in correctly. He is also working on a auditorium in Cape Fear. We might go view the site later in the week.

Day 5

Today, we continued developing our video projects with the goal of going “viral”.

We were given a few hours at the beginning of the day to continue brainstorming and developing our ideas. There was actually a shift in the guidelines for the project, so we altered our ideas as such before continuing. After ordering pizza for lunch, we continued with our idea and moved from developing our ideas into scripting, recording, and editing. We also developed a marketing plan in order to predict how we would spread awareness for the cause. After finalizing editing and the video at home, we will present it to the group on Thursday just before saying our final goodbyes.

Our planning stage

SAS day 5

We started the day in building C as we all met together to discuss the video project we began last week. We all split up into our groups and continued filming on sites all over the SAS campus. My group came up with the idea to do a dance challenge as a call to action to raise awareness about the water crisis. We introduced some facts about the issue and asked people to give us more information. if they could not do so, they had to perform a dance move on camera. We had so much fun filming these clips all days and really enjoyed the creative input we were each allowed to include in our video. We had Papa John’s Pizza for lunch so that we could continue working through the lunch hour. We finalized our video as the day closed and we can’t wait to present it on Thursday.

Day 3 – Marketing and Video

5/30/19

Today was my last day working with the marketing teams at SAS. We started the day by meeting with people who designed and worked on SAS’s main event, Global Forum. We met with the people who designed different booths throughout the event as well as the people who designed the signs and all of the visuals all around the event. They talked to us about continuity and the amount of work that is put in before the event and before you even start designs for the event. After these meetings, we sat in on a creative meeting where the team laid out some of the things they were and have been working on to show us some of what they do. We saw posters, t-shirts, infographies, and short info cards that were all designed by the team. After this meeting we went to lunch in building R and talked with some interns about what they do at SAS. After lunch, we toured building V which is the video productions building. It has lots of cool resources inside that create fun videos for the company. We also visited the print shop where they print all of the booths and anything needed from the marketing company, and the scenics shop that builds anything people need. Today was a good day in the office, and I am excited to work on apps with other people tomorrow.
