NC Museum of Art Day 5

Today I attended another set of meetings around the upcoming museum events. These ones were focused on some of the smaller details and communication between departments. This was similar to some of the previous meetings and discussed things like paint colors or the particular sizing of certain aspects. Again I found myself surprised by how much thought went into everything. Even for something like labels for an exhibit, there would be an entire meeting with people from 5-10 different departments discussing who they needed to communicate with and considering the reality of requests. There were lots of requests that other people outside of these departments made, and I found it very interesting to watch all of them discuss how feasible things were. At times they would come to conclusions that things weren’t possible and then talked about who they would need to communicate that to and try to balance out the importance of different requests. As I mentioned in previous entries, I was surprised by how many people were behind every single detail. Working at the museum proved to be far more than just putting up paintings, and that was actually only the job of very few people working there.

C&W Day 8

And it all comes to an end. The last day at Cushman & Wakefield was one of the best. I had the opportunity to tour the Alexandria Center for AgTech in RTP, a state of the art agriculture research facility. Multiple buildings containing over 100,000 sqf of greenhouse space, offices, labs and more. I never understood the magnitude of the RTP campus until today. All the numbers and headlines of companies in the area don’t do it justice. To be there in person on the leading edge of innovation was an experience I won’t forget. Seeing where all sorts of science that changes our Ives takes place, and learning about the facilities and real estate that supports it.

Strategic Connections Work Week 2 Day 2

Today was a very productive day. Right at 7:00 Am we drove together to Fayetteville. In Fayetteville there is his biggest project of the year that he is working on. Upon arrival we jumped quickly into a meeting to discuss timing of when it will all be done and if the cost is still the same. We then took a look around the building and moved all of our product into a pile. The project is coming together very nicely. On issue we ran into was in the meeting the owners of the building want it done way faster that possible. They want all the t.v, lighting, and cameras all put in in the next 2 moths. This wasn’t possible though because the building wont even be finished in 5 months. So we decided that we will just work very hard to get as much as possible done. It was a fun day today and I learned a lot.

Lenovo Day 5

Today, Mr. Holroyd and I met to discuss my ideas and the end goal of the project. We started off discussing my first idea but came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t fit that well and thus, moved on to a second idea that I had also been researching. This second idea was the idea about researching how diseases could be spread using sensors in your phone and artificial intelligence. We talked through the final output and how I would frame the project once more and the possibility of presenting it to his supervisor.

Day 7 St. Timothy’s Adi Solomon

Today was my second to last day at St. Timothy’s, and I got to see and participate in many end of the year activities. The two I will talk about were the last chapel service of the year and the end of year awards ceremony. Just like in the past week, I was able to read the scripture for the service (in this case a portion of the torah), and help in the structure of the service. Along with this, the end of year ceremony allowed me, and everybody else, to participate through cheering on peers and classmates. Many awards were given out for a wide variety of classes and achievements, but what I loved most was the immense cheering and applause everyone was offered. Today was a great day of closure as the end of the year is near. I feel so lucky to have had this experience and feel a sense of bitter sweetness approaching  my last day  tomorrow.

Day 7 – Colin

  • Today we wrapped up our PPC projects and then began working on finding potential partner companies for mpro5
  • Panera was the plan for lunch though thanks to Chelsea’s directions we ended up at a hospital
  • After lunch we met with Mark and Fred and discussed what we learned and got out of the wep as Mark will not be here for our final day
  • A conclusion we came to was that we were very thankful for them giving us this opportunity, and that they were very thankful for the hard work we put in the past two weeks
  • Michael and I were also complimented by the building owner on how much our ping pong skills improved

Today I was in the office with an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knee and shoulder issues. I saw several different sports related injuries which was very cool to see.

the office was very busy but using teamwork with the other staff I saw how the office was able to stay on track and keep the patients happy.

the orthopedic surgeon helped explain to me the value of making connections in the medical field as it allows for you to get more patients. This showed me the power of collaboration and teamwork which was very cool to see.

Day 7 – Continuing to Collect Data

As I continue my work on the Excel sheet, I’ve shifted my focus to the histology and immunohistochemistry (also known as IHC) categories of the data. Using my knowledge from the imaging and disease site sections I completed last week, I will find similarities between the diagnoses and create sub-categories for them, which will help Dr. Sud determine similarities between mammary analog secretory carcinomas. As stated previously, gathering and interpreting data is the most important step before reaching conclusions because it determines treatment plans, which supports the necessity of being extremely precise in my work for this stage. I’ve attached a photo of what the Excel sheet looks like that I organize.
