Today we got the whole day to work on our sales pitches and meet with our mentors about them. I had a lot of fun because I really like what I’m doing my pitch on and when I looked it up online, in Cisco’s website, the letters had changed to support the LGBTQIA+ community which was nice.

Q&A session
We went on a call with 5 people who were in the CSAT program on Tuesday. We got to ask them about what it was like and any other questions we had. There was one person there who had also studied a language at college which was really cool because I got to speak to someone who dual degreed in Spanish and I want to minor in German.
I also decided what I am going to do my sales pitch on.
Last day of new information
On Friday we started deciding on what we wanted to do for our pitch assignment. We also learned about post sales engineering which was funny because when we were asked what we wanted to do, we were all called nerds (in a fun way of course) for wanting to do something with engineering. We also learned about leadership and I specifically learned that I do not want to be a leader.
WebEx Assistant
Today we learned about collaboration which includes the WebEx assistant.
The WebEx assistant is like Alexa or google Echo but it’s used in the work environment. It muffles background noise, sets meetings on your calendar, and can also translate over 100 languages to English in real time. They’re still working on translating English to other languages.
Stopping Hackers
The things we learned were umbrella, cisco security, and duo. They all deal with security and making sure that Cisco and its customers are protected from hackers.
Here are some well known hacker groups.
One thing that was really cool was learning about how people usually don’t know they were hacked until days or months afterwards and when they do realize they were hacked, it takes on average 6 months to trace it back to the root.
It is also very funny to learn about Duo because your phone is needed as well as your username and password to login, so people can get very frustrated very fast because they will frequently not be able to get into their email if they don’t have their phone, aren’t on the wifi of the place, or aren’t on the latest update of the software.
Day 2!
Today we learned about Meraki, data center, and app dynamics.
Meraki deals with the bandwidth of the company and who uses what applications for how long. It can restrict what sites you can go to, or even if you can use the bandwidth in the first place. It also sells cameras that can detect many things, such as if someone has taken their mask off, where people tend to congregate in a store, and certain license plates. It also has an audio function that can detect specific sounds such as gunshots or sirens.
To keep the rest short (and because I’m running out of words), the data center is where all the data is stored, processed and then outputted.
App dynamics is used to detect where specific problems reside in an app which then make them a lot easier to fix.
