Final Day (Vanguard)

Today was the last day of work experience. I met with Brooke and Brett Smith this morning at 9:30 to present my part of the the project. After the project Brett answered a lot of the questions we had. From this experience I was able to get insight into what clients commonly think of when picking agencies. I also got more insight into the day to day actions of an agency. Having the project to work on out of the office gave me feel for what it would be like to set my own hours like an agent. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and extra insight into a world that I’m so interesting to me.

Day 7 (Vanguard Sports Agency)

Because for my work experience at  vanguard I am doing a project instead of the interning. Since I finished the majority of the project yesterday, i took the liberty of waiting till 12 before adding my finishing touches to it. The first part of the project was too list football, baseball, and basketball players who came out of North Carolina in the past four years and to identify their earning potential. The second part of the project was to read over Vanguards recruiting packet and address what I found most attractive and what I would else i would wish I had saw. Doing this project gave me a lot of questions for Brett, which is why I’m really looking foreword to meeting with him tomorrow. Most of my questions are in regards to how they go about picking which clients to go after.

Day 6 (Vanguard Sports)

Today I met with Brett Smith from Vanguard sports groups. Vanguard Sports group is a sports agency that represents baseball, football, and basketball. They started their representation of basketball players this year after gaining there first client in Wendell carter. In football they have notable names like Von miller and Kennan Allen as clients. Instead of working at Vanguard Brett gave Brooke and I a project to work on for the next two days. The first project was to review the materials they use for recruiting young clients. Brett thought we would have insight on what is appealing to attracting young athletes since many of the athletes they recruit are the same age as us. The second project was to go through the past few drafts and identify the players coming out of North Carolina, and to calculate agent fees after 4 years.

Day 5 USA Baseball

Today was easily my best day in the work experience program. Brooke and I arrived to USA baseball’s headquarters a little before 9:30. Brittany the assistant director of a marketing showed us around the office and introduced us to a number of her co-workers before putting us to work. I liked the office a lot. Most of the people working there were either interns who are currently in college or students who have graduated in the past few years. We started to by putting together information packets for baseball players coming  for upcoming tryouts/ tournaments.  We had to use the printer for about an hour to print a plethora of papers. We had a little trouble at first, but after are first round we quickly got into a grove. Once we had paper printed we assembled them into the information packet. Then we put together name tags for the USA host family.  The host family’s are  families around the triangle who volunteer house and feed players around the country while they have tryouts/ tournaments in the area. We went to lunch after the name tags and when we returned to make information for the host family. While we didn’t do anything extravagant I found the work interesting, and really liked the atmosphere of USA baseball.

Day Four (Final Day) Entigral

I don’t know what happened, but Brook and recorded the remaining data in record time. Coming into the day i seriously doubted that we would finish the data base, but we did. We searched through all 4,000 dealerships an filed away almost 700 dealerships of interest, as well as completing a four other minor project. We were able to complete all of this is just four long days. Finally finishing was a great feeling. I didn’t believe it was possible to feel such euphoria from excel.  While working with excel wasn’t my favorite thing I learned a lot. I learned a few things regarding excel, a lot of car dealerships, and the value of strong market research. At the end of the day Mark Self met with us to discuss our work over the past few days and gives us advice in choosing colleges and for future careers. I enjoyed my experience at entigral and look forward to working with my next company.

Day 3 at Entigral

So today is my second to last day here and i am continuing to work on a database for all of the car dealerships in North Carolina that primary sell new cars. I came into today having sorted through 1000 car dealerships and recorded the ones that sold new cars. At the end of the day today I just hit 2,000. With only one day left at Entigral I really am work against the clock as i try to get through these last 2000 dealerships. However brook finished her project on collecting information on the 50 dealership associations so i should have more help tomorrow. All and all i would say things are going pretty good. I definitely have a new appreciation for extensive market research.

Day 2 At Entigral Systems

My second day at entigral was much like my first. I started the morning with a quick debrief with Mark and then continued to build a data base of the  4,000 auto dealers in North Carolina. Mark and I agreed that it made more sense to focus primarily on dealerships that sold new cars, since those are the ones that would best support his model. That decision in itself made the process a lot quicker. Instead of adding every dealership to the database I was only focusing on the 500+ new car dealerships in North Carolina. So after my meeting with Mr. Self I cracked down and started separating the used dealerships from the new ones, and then added dealers ships that sold new cars to the database. After many hours the past two days I’m about a quarter of the way done.

Day 1 at Entigral Systems

I arrived a Entigral A little before 9:30 today and within half a hour I was already working on my first project. I started the day meeting the CEO Mark Self, and the head of fiance. After that Mr. Self showed Brook and I around the office. He gave us a quick overview of his background before explaining to us how Entigral works. Entigral is a software company that is often percieved and acts like a solutions company, this is because they do all their own installations and set up for their software.  Their software allows them to track parts, or finished goods such as cars on a car lot. This trackers can for  one be used identify the authentic of a part or object. Entigral was be trying though to get their product into car lots. Have Entigral drastically improves the efficiency of car dealerships. Mark Self claim that having Entigrals system to help identify where certain cars are could decrease the amount of time needed to by a car to only 45 minutes. Entigrals software also matches idea credit scores to different types of cars. After are overview Brook and I got started right away. Mr self wanted to start on a database containing basic information about all the car dealerships in the state. Upon some quick research we found that their are almost 4,000 car dealerships (new and used) in the North Carolina alone. 6 hours later we had a starting list of about three hundred dealerships and a list of every state’s auto dealer associations the country.
